Having a drinking straw handy has been something I got used to on the bikes when on a trip longer than an hour. It was a life saver in particular on a couple of trips and today in the car it was a lot easier than handling water bottles when driving, no issues of a bottle being in the way behind the shifter, nor of bottles flying around on the passenger seat or in footwells.

I thought I'd share with you all how I set it up in the car. Hope it is helpful for someone out there

I have used Hydrapaks in the past however there are other brands such as the more well known Camelback.

This is the straw in position


As you can see, I have the straw mounted on the seat belt. Usually on the packs you have a locating strap wrapped around part of the shoulder strap to locate the drinking straw for either easy access or so that you can get to it with your mouth

As I had a second old pack lying around I chose to pinch its locating strap so that I could fit around the seat belt.



I joined them together as follows



Then completed the link



Of course the link goes around the seat belt.

Mounting the backpack was pretty simple. Pull the headrest off and thread the shoulder straps around the headrest posts



Then stuff it into the netting behind the seat. You can set the headrest a bit lower if you want too



Note, I installed the backpack backwards in case I wanted to refil it

It's not that I want to not modify the car, it's that for the moment I don't see the need for lowering/zorst/wheels/brakes/bling at this point. The stock running gear is doing fairly well for the moment. That may change in future though....

I am happy with it stock (relatively) at the moment and I think that is what may be throwing people/giving them ammo

Yep, same here. That's why you paid extra for a Spec-B. Subaru have already put on sensible "good bits", without going the full STi route.

Well just an idea an thought.. lol why don't you buy the sti water spray bottle.. an connect that up with a line for drink.. fit a hell of a lot more in bahahha
