My Liberty falls victim to some wanker! **NOW WITH PICS**

My poor baby..

So today, I decided to head to maccas with a friend today for a quick lunch as we were both starving. So you know the usual, we sat, we ate and we talked.

So after eating we headed back to my freshly waxed lib, and as I was about to unlock the car, the lady in the car parked next to me says

"Excuse me, is this your car?"

"Yes it is" I replied.

"I saw someone hit your car before, but unfortunately I didn't get the registration, I was in the drive through and saw it far away form my rear view mirror, but I could see it was a white truck with a trailer" she tells me.

After further inspection of my door, there saw the deep gash, which was close to 1cm in depth, almost looked like it cut straight through the panel. So the force must have been pretty large, as the middle of my door was pretty much crippled in.

So I grab the girls name and number and decided to see if Maccas had caught it on tape.

After enquiring with the manager, one of the staff approached me and told me he saw a white van + a trailer parked next to my car early. IT MUSTA BEEN HIM!

A few moments later the manager arrived back with the unfortunate news that they have the incident on tape, however the camera is too far away to be able to retrieve a rego. That hurt.

So, after a quick trip to the cop shop, who told me that there's nothing I can do. Here I sit sulking around at home typing this awful story for my fellow Liberty owners. :(

I assume my whole door will have to be replaced, probably cheaper than repairing. :(:(

TY for listening/reading.

Bugger!
I guess you're up for a full excess charge if you can't identify the other party, and a rating drop if you haven't earned permanent rating 1 yet...

Sorry to hear Darren... such is owning a car these days :(

Nothing you can do about it, really, look around for a door from a wrecker's or a new one (be prepared to bend over either way)

That sucks mate. :(

Exact same thing happened to my previous liberty except i ran into office works and it was a few kids and a trolley which did the damage. Had to get the whole panel redone so i know what it feels.

Bummer.... man that sux that it couldn't read the rego. You think if you can prove it on video that it wasn't ur fault that insurance would help out. Wonder if you could use the vandalism clause. (the vandalised your car, only thing is they used a van instead of a key)

Such assholes for driving away.

I've noticed a lot of unfortunate things happen to a number of libs these few weeks. Whats going on??

I only just recently waxed and polished it too.

I just got in contact with insurance company, they said I'll have to pay the excess, unless I can get a name, address and rego. There's nothing I can do. :(

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, Darren. Dang, that's pretty bad. What an a-hole (the guy in the van, not you).

The question is whether the vehicle is a regular or just passing through. Judging by the trailer perhaps passing through. But nothing wrong with keeping an eye out if they ever return.

Whenever I park next to large vehicles or who look like trouble, I jot down the rego plate for vehicles on both sides. Not that I can prove anything but at least I can track down the vehicle next door for further investigation.

Well the thing is, they arrived AFTER I had left the car. According to the manager, the video footage shows a the offending Van pull up about 5minutes after I had left the car. It was an empty car park mind you, why did it have to be me. :(
