Searching for a R4140 Audi auto tranny out of a 2016 A3 Turbo 'Limited' edition.. They have a tendency to shoot things out and break the case housing and they have no more spares of trannys left worldwide because it is a common fault, but they refuse to take any responsibility .. So my son in laws beautiful low klms A3 is just sitting in the workshop gathering dust. Advised against buying an Audi even though some of them are among my favorite cars but I know way too many people that have had very expensive faults or minor faults but were unable to get the parts. We have loaned him one of our WRXs which is what he should have bought in the first place, or a Liberty of course..

No.. Transmission is unique to that car. Not used in any other model of Audi,BMW,Mini,Lamborghini or any other car company owned by VW.

So, when the "unique to that car, not used in any other model" tranny is found What is going to stop the replacement tranny from suffering the same fate?

It belongs to my son-in-law. We have always had Subarus and still have 6 in this household and I strongly advised my daughter not to buy an Audi or any other non Japanese car but they ignored me and bought a Q3 and an A3 and now they have this nightmare scenario of a beautiful but dead Audi and no parts available to fix it. They have borrowed ne of our WRXs till it gets sorted at which time they will sell the A3 and buy something better...like a Subaru ...lol.. like they should have done in the first place..

Nothing. But with no ability to retro fit anything from the VAG parts bin, best outcome would be to fit another ticking time bomb (if available) then sell it or scrap the car 'as is' for parts.

So, the car is under 10 years old and the manufacturer cannot support the appliance with the required replacement parts.
Surley it is time to have the lemon laws enacted and have Audi buy the car back?
Surely!

Time for 'A Current Affair'

Tracy Grimshaw couldn't have retired at a worse time.

I assume that's tongue in cheek, as she's hanging around until November... :)

There you go. That's what happens when I get my news updates about trash TV from the Betoota Advocate.
