Immobiliser Issues

Hi All, Been having issues with the immobiliser as the fault code came up as well as the throttle body code.

Car went into limp mode and engine light came on.

Tried transducer in key but as both keys no good, think its the Immobiliser module, antenna that fits over the key barrel.

The part number is: 88215AG00A
https://www.subaruparts.com/oem-parts/s ... NC1nYXM%3D

I believe Subaru need to pair the key transducer with the new Immobiliser module.

Any advice appreciated.

What fault codes specifically?

Search your year model FSM workshop manual PDF, link in my signature :good:

Unfortunately the issue is potentially in the Body Control Module (BCM).

What will this mean? Can it be replaced from a dismantled vehicle and re-paired?

Why is there an additional unit to the ECU? Is this normal in all Subaru models or just the gen4 liberty/outback?

Subaru quote $2500 for this module and don't recommend a used one that I have seen for $300.

Understand the speedo unit needs to be re-paired with the BCM.

Are there any Subaru's that are not so complicated and dependant on the dealer? I realise this is getting typical of all vehicles so dealers have a strangle hold and squeeze out private repairers.

Any advice appreciated.

It depends on the actual issue, eg if you’ve modded the interior lighting and got the polarity wrong: that can fry the bcm/bui…
This is common enough that there are reports of getting the bcm fixed at an electronics shop, eg a burnt capacitor etc.

Personally, I’d start with the FSM workshop manual keyless entry diagnostics, links to FSM in my signature.

Any recent work or mods related to eg the interior wiring?

Thanks, I didn't end up buying the liberty with the non functioning BCM even though it looked amazing. Found another so hopefully no issues.

Sorry for late response.
That car was in Western Sydney and had 77,000km.
It sold initially on Grays on line for $9.600. The guy selling it later was trying to get $15k.
It was a vert tidy unit.
08 sedan auto, originally from country NSW.
Sadly it spent 3 months during Covid at a Subaru dealer waiting for a genuine BCM so I gave up on it. The seller wouldn't sell un repaired as had a dealers license.
He may have kept the car for himself.
