Ok boys it looks like my oem clutch on the Lib is on its way out so I am in the market for a new one. My mechanic recommends an Exedy Heavy Duty Organic Clutch Kit but I am interested in hearing from anyone who has used one previously on their Liberty.

27K on the clock and still under warranty with Subaru but I have decided to upgrade over stock rather than have them replace it with an oem clutch.

I didn't think Subaru covered clutches under warranty...

Just got back from ASG and Nik put her up on the hoist. It seems the offending noise from the rear is my rear dif hitting the new 3" exhaust pipe he installed yesterday. Only happens on hard reverse torque (down shifts). He has now made some slight adjustments and all is good for now. The clutch is pretty strong actually except in 5th - 6th gears where there the most pressure on it thus the issue in tuning last night. The car sounds deep and throaty but no highway drone.

Its putting out 180 kw atw and 414 Nm running stock boost currently.

I suspect that's a bit misleading.

At the rpm you are making those kw, is boost the same as it was when stock?

Peak boost may not have been increased, but you don't make an extra 40-50kw without increasing boost at whatever rpm that peak power is being made.

They replaced 5 for me in the old 2.5 PMSL in 110000k s its the weakest link lol

This was the only car I have owned that you could hold your foot to the floor and change up gears simply amazing poor bugger that purchased the car after me lol

Its a good sound is'nt it, you drive around peaceful in the cabin while lookin at the young guys rubbernecking
If it gets a bit loud in the cabin I have found the rubber fited floormats sold by Subaru (not the carpet but the rubber) if fitted front and rear gives a bit more sound insulation as well
BTW lookin forward to eventually getting a open source tune to get the full benifit of the Phat dump pipe

Long story but I now have an 'upgraded clutch' from...wait for it........MRT

I got the new clutch after a heavy day at a skidpan and I chose to upgrade rather than try to go warranty.

The clutch is stong, you can feel it though I'm not sure I've ever liked it. I can't changed gears quickly without it kind of slipping, though this doesn't happend if you press the clutch right to the end and change gears slowly.

Would someone in an MY05 GT drive my car for a minute or 2 or vice versa and allow me for a quick spin to see if my current clutch is dramatically different from others.

My wife doesn't think there is anything different..but what would she know
