Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

advice on selling 08 tuned by STi wagon? sell as is or spray

Hi all,
I used to come in here years ago when i first bought my car but havent for a long time and forgot my login so had to make a new one.
I need some advice please, I have a black 08 tuned by STi wagon, i was due to sell it a year ago but 2 days before handing it over it threw a rod, bye bye engine!
As I had already spent $5k getting it up ready for sale I spent another $9,000 and bought a new block from subaru and had the engine fully rebuilt. Since the rebuild it has about 30,000km on it.
I no longer need the vehicle and want to sell it. The main issue is my ex wife drove it for a year in country Vic and it has a lot of paint chips and scratches, it could do with a respray.
Apart from that its in great condition and a new near engine should surely interest a potential lover of these vehicles.
I've seen 3 of these (sedans though) currently on car sales for $18,500.
So my question is, should i get the car a full respray? Or sell it as is?
I actually have no idea what it might be worth with the near new engine, its insane how well these vehicles hold their value!

IMO Don't bother with respraying, you will not make your money back.

Don't bother putting any further money into it since ultimately nobody really cares and will spend the money if they're after that sort of thing. Just give it a good clean and wash, throw some decent photos of it up on carsales and Club.Lib FB page.

Which short block did you go for when rebuilding? If it's an EJ257 there's usually a crowd looking for the turn key solution if they're not modding it too much!

A manual will fetch a pretty large premium over an auto, and so will wagon over sedan.

If it's auto I'd aim for around 12-15k, manual up to around 20 ish. The prices are all over the places. Try your luck and list high, see what happens and drop price if there's no hits.

Good luck with sale!

Probably a good detail & paint correction would be enough, maybe source a better condition wing if its sunburnt.

$20k if it’s a manual postfl, easy.

Hopefully it was a 257 short that went in???

What colour is it???
