whats everyones thoughts on these? there on ebay now for the gt's for about $500. they say there the thing to have but im not to sure...

$500? Was it always that pricey? But I guess it's a decent cheap mod for anyone without the Si drive (MY04-MY06). However if you plan to get a tune in the future I'd go with Dave's suggestion and skip this because most people ended up selling theirs after the tune.

Word is they make more sense on a manual more then an auto.

Aside from the exchange rate drop, I think $500 is a bit rich.

If you are getting a good tune, this product is realistically not required - Although I'm sure it won't hurt having it if you have the money to spend

Ive got one fitted and it makes a huge difference! Mine is a 2006 MY07 GT and from what I have read the FBW (Fly by wire) throttle is not very good compared to the 2007+ models. This problem is especially noticeable in the 2006 MY07 Auto model. I recently had the car serviced and removed the sprintbooster to see if it really makes a diference. I put it back in a day later because the car felt like a slug without it.

I cant comment on other models (incl manual), but can definately recommend it for anyone with the same as mine (2006 MY07 Auto GT). I think when I get a tune I will take it out because you can fix the FBW prob with a good tune, but until then Im keeping it fitted.

oh, and I paid less than that for mine (but the dollar was stronger back then)

Not sure how much it'll be now with the fallen dollar, but you should also look into the Blitz throttle controller as well. It allows for different presets, just like Si drive.

If you're willing to wait for a bit, I'll be able to source some cheaper locally-made versions. I'm the test guinea pig for the prototype, should be in Jan.

After watching live logging on my car, I've now come to realise how much the Sprintbooster actually DOES make a difference to what the ECU sees. That doesn't necessarily translate to a noticeable difference to the driver though.

Not to put down anyone using the sprint boost or other boost controllers but there is are lot more inputs that go into making your engine perform at a safe but optimal level to take full advantage of engine/breathing mods. The only way to achieve this is to tune the maps your ecu uses. Ecutek or Open Source tuning will net you a lot more improvement in performance than boost controllers or throttle boosters.

hmmm....maybe Ive misinterpreted what you've written, but the difference is very noticeable on my car? (again this may be because its an auto and its the 2006 MY07 model?) not sure, but the diference is definately not a placebo effect

It is noticeable by the driver, but that's by the way the SB intercepts the throttle signal. If you ever have a datalogger, try unplugging the SB and plant your foot on the throttle, you'll see how slowly it opens up to WOT.

Heh-heh. Some people just want a not so costly solution at having more fun. Sure, more power would be nice, but sometimes you just wanna have fun on the streets and a more responsive throttle can provide that on a budget.
