Strange knocking or grinding sound when turning

Hopefully i can get some information on this.
I start up in the morning, start driving and the first turn i make the steering makes this weird knocking sound or kind of a grinding sound, like scrapping.
not on straights but when i accelerate, and say go thru a roundabout it comes back.
Any ideas?
