I have a 2008 liberty wagon gt spec b.( 90k on odometer)
Just noticed when driving car in reverse out of garage and turn steering wheel clockwise full lock I get a screechy sound, like a deflated tyre on polished concrete. Last few seconds.
Does not happen with anticlockwise turn of steering wheel.
had a viscous coupling unit replaced recently and successfully stopped clunk on fwd full lock but the new sound is only in reverse and only after start up.
any opinions?
Robert

Try checking the brake pad condition.
It may be the wear limit stylus touching the brake disc.

The fan belt that turns the power steering pump is loose and the belt is slipping ! That's what is screeching...

Check both acc belts for wear and tear, if they snap and wrap around the crank damper a lunched engine can result

I have seen cases where the pulley has cut deep into the grooves of the Poly-V belt and the belt could no longer "wedge" and grip.
Sometimes the belt can no longer be tightened and must be replaced.
