Running a gt on 98 octane.

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

Running a gt on 98 octane.

I did try using "search" but there was 47 pages of results sooooo... I always run 98 in all our cars because that's what subaru recommend but my GT fuel tank says 95... It's 7 cents a liter cheaper and filling every fortnight with 98 will cost an extra $100 a year, so it's not a money issue and it's not gunna hurt the engine but is there anything else I should consider ???

I generally run 98 exclusively for the cleaning additives. I reckon it can only help with the non-direct injection EJ.

I have used 98RON in all my cars, 2000 RX Liberty - 2003 XS Forester - 2013 Honda CRV and now my 2016 Honda CRV and never had any engine issues in any of the cars. I used E10 just once in my Forester and I flatly refuse to use it again, it was the most gutless car I have driven in my 3 score and 10.
The Forester had nearly 300,000 kms on it when my daughter took it over, she then sold it a couple of years later to a work friend for her son and he does Pizza deliveries and it's still on the OEM engine with no issues to my knowledge.

95 means 5% crap...
98 means 2% crap....

Also I find that I get better fuel economy out of the 98 which generally offsets the extra cost....
