Hi Everyone,

I have just taken delivery of a 2007 Liberty GTB Wagon, unfortunately the car has seen a few years of neglect and I am determined to fix a few things that will otherwise bug me.

The car was fitted with ugly roof racks which I have removed, however after removing the mounting brackets I am left with 4 mount holes and unfortunately the car did not come with the factory blanking plates. Would anyone know where I can source some of these?

The second issue is the spare key had a flat battery. I have replaced the battery and managed to reprogram the fob (thank-you forums!!) however when I try to start the car the fuel pumps prime but I get no start and a red key symbol illuminated on the dash. I assume there is additional steps to programming the key. If anyone has some advise on how to get this working that doesn't involve spending my life savings at a genuine Subaru dealership that would be much appreciated.

Cheers

If you get a SOLID red key displaying then the transponder chip is being rejected by the immobiliser security system, or maybe the chip fell out when you changed the battery.

You need acccess to the special machine for reprogramming the immiobiliser system and registering the keys with the car.
Time to seek out a specialist locksmith.

Note that the 'chip' in the key fob looks like nothing - not exactly rough, but irregular, not neatly finished. Could be an offcut chunk from a metal bar. Really odd looking. 5-6mm square, ~3mm thick. It is possible it fell out along the way.
