07 gt noise in dash

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

07 gt noise in dash

Postby skidaddle » Fri Dec 28, 2018 11:43 am

A noise that sounds like an auto antenna trying to go up or down inside the dash happening randomly. Tried turning off radio and climate control unit. The noise continues for a while after the car is turned off and key removed. Any ideas?

I'm also getting the noise every once in a while, I think it may be the CD stacker in my stereo. I have a 2007 Subaru Liberty GT Spec B

Ahhhhh yes, I've never actually used the CD stacker so I forget it was even in there! Thanks I'll look into it and post what I find.

Generally these noises are either:

The forward part of the dash vibrating against the windshield.
Place some small unobtrusive wedges between screen and dash after your passenger has tested it by placing their hand towards forward dash center.

Or:

One of the two hvac blend door motors actuators arms has jumped out of the blend door cam, or the actuator mototors themselves need refurb or replacement.

If its happening during driving its the former, if after key-off it’s the latter.

I’ve done both fixes on my car.

Use google site search link in my sig.

Key words “dash rattle” “noise in dash”.

Lmk if that’s too hard and I’ll jfgify.

Thank you Benny,

It's definitely the blend door motor playing up. I will be able to sort this with the info you provided.
Cheers again mate!

Bit of a contortionist job but doable, just confirm it is that issue before proceeding.

Indeed going for a spare set of actuators at a self serve wreckers is also a worthy preparation ;)

Happened to me. Subaru dealer put a new one in, but gave me the old actuator.
When I opened it up, I found some white grease had flowed over a PCB track used as a variable resistance for a potentiometer wiper.
Just needed a rag and metho to clean it off.
