Engine Out / In Cost

Hey guys and gals,

Recently been experiencing some blue smoke from my MY06 Spec B Liberty wagon H6 when i start it up, which has lead my non-mechanic brain to think it's the valve stems.

I called RevZone in Ringwood the other day and was told that a simple engine out / in would cost over $2000 without even doing anything with it. Just trying to get an understanding of how this costs so much or if i should contact somewhere else. My understanding is the only parts that would be required would be fluids for an engine out / in, then just labour but surely not ~20 hours worth. (Dealers say around $100 hr for labour so thats my guide)

Anyone able to guide me here? As i don't have this kind of money to dispose of right now and have zero experience with cars.
Thanks.

I dooded my clutch in my H6 in a day, at home in/out, start 900am drive out 5PM.
That is with changing the flywheel/clutch assembly.
By my calculations, that is $250 an hour.

Just keep your accountant brain on and you’ll be fine. :)

Start with the bottle ^
(Wait till you need head gaskets etc to get the heads recoed n decked.)

I may try that too, my 2.5t absolutely pumps smoke till it’s warmed up and then some :P
