Hey all,

New to Subaru's but looking at getting an 04 Spec B Subaru Liberty H6 (3.0r) . 6spd Manual Transmission (had rebuild).

Not sure what pricing is around these regards to high KMS, this ones close to 280,000.

Personally worried about blowing a head gasket or going to need rebuild but haven't inspected yet.
Looks stock but has bilstein suspension from factory too.

There is also some out nearing the 200,000kms mark and Not 100% in whats needed to be done around that time and pricing for service etc.

Anything I should look out for ? And what price seems reasonable?

Timing chain tensioners iirc.
O2 sensors and maf.

Few thoughts.....
Budget say $5 -$10K
If the head gasket is not ‘leaking’ it won’t.
Hard to check but some use a lot of oil. Regular checks are mandatory.
Check clunking on turning ... not looking for cv joints... they wear out.... looking for centre diff wear ($1,000ish). May feel like wheels are ‘skipping’ on tight low speed turns.
Sloppy gear box may just be a $200 gear stick bushes change. Gear box should be notch but accurate... they are good gear boxes...if had a rebuild it may be a hard life car.
Usual hits and dints check.
Usual suspension check.
Spark plugs are expensive... when last changed?
Tyres are relatively expensive... good tread, like rego length adds value in this price range.
Brake pads?
Window motor switches can go.. cheapest to replace.
Stereo is is unique and a bit of a pain to replace if gone... lots of speakers and some will have deteriorated but can get genetic sub woofer cheap enough to replace stock.
AC hoses should be renewed by now... and regassed.... ten years life in my experience.
Apart from that usual car stuff I guess... still excellent buying for a good one...
