Sad news. Thought I would share as we can never be reminded too many times when enthusiasts like ourselves are underneath our cars as much as we are.

A 39-year-old man has died at Rookwood Cemetery in Sydney's west after he became trapped underneath his car while changing a tyre.
...
Police believe the Holden ute, which was propped up with wooden blocks, fell when a jack came away from under the car. "Sadly he has been crushed," the police spokesman said.

Always use the right tools for the job. Never use wood/bricks/besser blocks to support the car by its sills/diffs etc. Use jack stands on level ground (concrete, not dirt) and test / lean on the car to make sure it is stable before getting underneath. If you can, place any removed wheels under the sills in case the stands fail, even if that means you have to crawl a little bit further. Think about possible risks as you are working, and how you can prevent an accident from happening. Stay safe.
