Buying Subaru

Postby 14tacruz » Wed Aug 30, 2017 8:06 pm

Hey people

Saw a liberty the other day 05, 3.0. umm a few things after I drove it had a strong smell of almost smoke and maybe more oil, gave it a little bit of a thrash but all in all seemed pretty good. if i was to buy it, I'm a pretty big guy how do i move the whole driving seat back instead of just the automated seat adjustor??

Plus, anything else to look for I'm going to have another look at it tomorrow??

Actually turned out all good, I'm pretty happy atm!

Took it to a subaru specialist mechanic and he said theres nothing wrong with it, no oil leaks just I think the rear boots maybe which is nothing to worry about but will get it fixed!

If there is a strong smell of smoke/oil, I'd be worried. Is the exhaust aftermarket (ie Catless)? Getting the green light from a Specialist is good, but can he answer why there was a strong smell? An engine issue with these can easily cost 50%-75% of the car's value. Are the front CV Boots split? That can cause grease to spill onto the exhaust, causing a smell.

And regarding the seat, if it's electric then there's a slider on the right side where all the seat adjust buttons are. There is no other adjustment apart from the Up/Down, Tilt for Front & Back, and slide Forward/Rear. But there is seat memory as well though.
