Hey all,

So I bought my car 2nd hand around 18 months ago and have never chnaged the radiator cap. The cap currently on car looks like this:

From what ive seen elsewhere, this is the wrong cap (0.9 bar, 90 kpa). I thought the factory cap should be 137 kpa (1.4 bar aprox).

Can anyone confirm if this is correct? Further info, car is a 2005 liberty gt. Also, the cap on the upper expansion tank is 108 kpa (1.1 bar), pictured here:

Any help/advice much appreciated.

It seems about right to me.

The sti cap is 1.3bar.

I would not change the cap if the car isn't having any issues. You could get unlucky and cause an issue just from increasing the pressure in the cooling system.

Having said that, I'd probably replace the non genuine cap with a regular 1.1 bar cap as well.

Thanks surge, didnt think it looked legit.

Regarding the correct oem cap though, is this the right one? Anyone else with a pre fl gt able to confirm? If so, will the 0.9 var cap have caused any issues? I thought there was mean to be a pressure differential between the 2 caps?

That's the cap I have on my 2.5 GTB (post-fl). Would be the same I reckon.

Thanks Gene, i think it's the right one too after doing some reading. Either someone put the 0.9 bar cap on because they needed one in a hurry/didnt check pressure rating , or maybe it's been done intentionally to hide a leaky radiator. Ordered the correct oem one so guess I'll find out soon enough...
