Liberty B4 vs WRX: Opinions Wanted

Postby alastair » Tue Oct 18, 2016 12:10 am

Tossing up between the possibility of a B4 Liberty, most likely stock, or a GC or GD WRX. Budget is around $8k. I have never driven either. The interior in the B4 seems infinitely more appealing than especially a GC and is actually pretty impressive considering the usual dreariness of Japanese interiors of the time. I do not really plan to modify, although if I was, a tune and exhaust would most likely be the extent of it.

To me it just feels like you're getting more car for the money when it comes to the B4, and they also seem to give me the impression they have not had what I can only describe as the ram raid treatment like the majority of overpriced WRX's I see knocking around Gumtree and the like.

So if this has been covered a thousand times, I apologise, just after some opinions when it comes to the current market, VOD, price, general condition of similarly priced B4's vs WRX's, etc.

I am leaning towards a B4 at the moment, although I'm yet to look at one, due to the reasons I mentioned before.

Fire away people, cheers for reading.

- Liberty would more likely be looked after better
- Lib is larger inside
- Lib is nicer inside
- Lib has lower insurance (well, should)

You can also be told to "sell it and buy a WRX" and also avoid "eww Impretzel".
Pretty clear who the winner is here, that's right, Forester XT :P.

Pretty much the only advantage with the gc8 is less weight

These days you can get a moderate condition GT for $8k - and it's a much better car than a B4 in almost every way.
