Apexi Pod filter

I know this has been posted before, but I couldnt find the answers I was after when I did a search so...
Basically, I fitted the Apexi pod filter and pipe kit and apart from the extra noise, I cant say that Ive noticed any real improvement in response, if anything it feels laggy-er (slower to pick up). Has anyone else had any experiences like this with this mod?
i was surprised because I had a HKS pod on my RS several years ago and the improvement over the panel filter/box was noticeable down low in the revs...
Should I reset the ECU?
Im going to give it a week or so... or maybe its better suited to the 2.0T?

hey ill be interested in meeting up and checking out your pod filter setup, i think it could be the tuning.... =p verso / ecutek tune to get gains?

Hi James,
I recently purchased a pod filter and was advised to reset the ECU when fitting so it can 'learn' and adjust to the increased flow. Might be worth a shot.

The ECU learns by averages - so the more you drive it after a reset, the more it will average itself and the 'learning' won't be as obvious.
So if you floor it really hard after a reset, it will feel faster for a while, but it will get sedate again. THis is seen on the dyno when I got my re-tune, the ECU self-learned my grandpa driving and retarded ignition and I lost power.

Ha ha ha, well, the obvious fix is to make your average driving hard driving !

Could always buy NA.. I brought the turbo, then mods because I like to dive pretty hard.. I would like to think I am not a hoon and don’t drive like an idiot.. But I enjoy getting full use out of my turbo and mods
.. Otherwise what’s the point, I may as well be driving NA if I am going to be so worried about fuel and not taking the engine over 2500RPM..…

On a turbo? You should try fitting the Si drive and disable the Sports and Sports# mode so that it's always on the lowest setting.

well, Ive decided to go back to the original box setup with the aftermarket panel filter.. Last night my car went into safe mode with the engine check light on .
I took it to Subaru this morning and they were kind enough to look at it quickly before I went to work. They plugged in the laptop and reset the ECU. I had a good chat with the head mechanic there and he advised me against the aftermarket pod for reasons of warranty etc.. He said that Subaru Aus are getting tough on any warranty fixes when there are mods on the car.... I kinda knew this already but it did make me think twice about further mods (Ive been through an expensive engine rebuild on the RS in the past and dont want to go there again)
I was really surprised that changing the air intake triggered an engine check light?
