Top Mount Cold Air Intake is there such a thing available for the liberty GT
I'm sure i saw one along time ago on a WRX on one of the US forums & cant find it now or any other similar.
My thoughts behind this is when you have taken the step to go with a FMIC there is a space left behind, as an alternative to mounting the oil cooler up there, as some have done.
I would have thought mounting the Air filter in that position & sealed to the scoop in a similar manner as the stock TMIC would get more & better cold air then down in the normal position.
BUT i do recognise you will get heat from the turbo affecting the intake temp, I would imagine this would be less then what the TMIC suffer from as there metal & hold the heat where as an air box would be plastic/carbon fibre, & have the opportunity to wrap some sort of thermal protection around it.

EDIT: another thought would you even be able to get the plumbing tp that possition??

Rally cars used to do it this way and no the air path from the air filter to the turbo is quite short and add the the scoop charging air in, heatsoak of the filter box won't be an issue.

Syms racing used to have a yello wrx with this set up and the air box was covered with some kind of insulation.

I'll see if i can dig up some pics

I do know that the NA Imprezas have the air box located at the back of the engine (A very large air box might I add) where the TMIC would be.

Could be a little tricky, but I can't see why it wouldn't be possible in the Liberty if you were running a FMIC.
