Advised that under Aus regulations this is not repairable as is too close to tyre wall. Anyone experienced this ?

I have repaired these in the past. Here in Vic (I assume other states are the same) you are not permitted to repair the shoulder or sidewall, only the tread area. That looks to me to be inside what would be considered the tread.
Have you tried another repairer? Maybe the local garage would be a better option than a specialist tyre outlet.

Years ago, I had a nail go into the treaded area fairly close to the edge of the tyre.
Unfortunately for me, the sharp end of the nail had gone in at an angle and made multiple scores on the inner section of the sidewall.
It was deemed that this tyre wouldn't be safe, so it was replaced.

How stupid that's like Dr shopping looking for a Dr that agrees with you just to shut you up

If i had to pay for full replacement i certainly would have tried other places. As the tyre has barely done 5k apparently Bridgestone will reimburse me near full cost under their " Benefits Your Service Program " ( i am usually very dubious about these sorts of warrantys ) Was just curious to get some opinions. I do drive rather hard. Much appreciate all your advice. Cheers

have had similar repaired myself in the past, no probs.
Obviously if you can get new for not much $$ always a better option
