hey trendsetters,
im just in looking at the new car quote that i have received, and im looking at alot of figures that seem pointless... including, dealer delivery and admin fee. others seem somewhat standard, but i know there are some that are just thrown in for shits and giggles..
any advice?
this is all for negotiation in the new car, and trying to get something decent for my new wheels... dont want to push my luck too much.
cheers.

Who cares what the intermediate figures are? All that matters is the "drive away" price, i.e. how much you've got to hand over to get it out the door.
Assuming you are doing some negotiating, then it's purely academic which of those figures they discount to bring the price down a bit.

Only thing that needs to be listed is as Ric says, Changeover price. Anything else is bullshit, and if after your past experience with your lemon you are buying another Subaru, They are pushing thier luck, not you!
Good luck

its more the realisation that i cant get what i want for my car..
its a long winded saga that is driving me up the wall.. i really dont think they car if they dont get my business...
i know what one of these are worth, im not doing toooooo bad.. but these little extras hes throwing in are what i think not needed.
im looking into other alternatives due to the help and pms ive received from other forum members, (thanks lads)
i am doing my best to negotiate, but in a way im kinda tied in cause if i dont buy a car through them, i wont get what i want for the lemon..
have i confoosed you guys yet?

Yeah but they can still give you a high value for your trade, but still that just means they havent discounted much for the new car.
I know it may be a bit confusing but look at bottom line figure.... CHANGE OVER!!!!!
Thats after all discounts and trade considered.
They just play with the number on each side but the bottom is still the same.
Mate theres some members on here who works for dealerships.
Phil.

Has someone really quoted you 25,000 trade in? The best I have been offered for trade on my MY05 LIberty GT Wagon was 24k!!! They all "start" at $30k and end up with a formal offer of around 24..
Judging by the prices you have listed, it is looking remarkably like another Subi!

I noticed there was a price for window tint in there. Not sure how picky you are, but I'd try to save money by getting your windows tinted outside. They always mark it up like x3 to x4 the price.

The Tint Professor will do a sedan for $265 and a wagon for $295.
Tintacar will do a Formula 1 tint for around $380 I think.
(You need to double-check if the sunroof is included.)

As has been said, ignore what they itemise on the quote, pick a figure you are happy to changeover at and offer less
If your lease payout is 25k, then the CO is 40k. They are absorbing some profit in the fact your lease is over the trade value of the car. Go back to the and offer 35k CO.
They will usually match external tint quotes, if not scrap it and get it done after.
Dealer Delivery - you can usually get them to absorb it... but if you're nailing them other places they wont come at it.
Admin is bullshit, but then what's 83$ in the scheme of things at 65k?
If the value is 65k and the trade covers the lease, why is there an extra 5k thrown in for a payable of 70?
Judging by the price, my guess is GT spec B sedan.

never heard of an admin fee.
and get your car tinted after you get it. its cheaper and yu also dont have to pay stamp duty on it!
no that that is out of the way your change over is 70k.....
dont bother saying i dont want to pay dealer delivery or i want more money for my car... just simply say i want mt my change ove to be X amount of dollars and i will leave give you my credit card details for a deposit now.
they want to sell you a car, and commitment is what they want out of you.. offering your credit card details means that you are serious about sealing the deal now.
this will help you... they will try to talk you up and depending on the number you presented to them in the first place, you may have to move up in the price.... but if you can move your number lower than what you have been quoted . you had a win. and thats great.
good luck with it.

awesome guys there are some really helpfull tips there... appreciate it..
basically with the issues ive had with my car.. im stuffed im keeping it.. if i DONT sell it as a trade, there is no way in hell im going to get 25 for it.. i have basically said to them that i have to get that figure to pay my lease out which atm stands at just over 22.5.. im cutting the lease 2 years short hence the high payout.
it is for the gt-b wagon too so yes, those of you that guessed are correct..
ive pondered over this many many nights, and discussed it with alot of people, i love my subarus, and ive realised for a long time that is it my car that is the issue, and it has been the encouragement from the forums im associated with, ie here and ozlib, that im still willing to go subaru again.. yes i have been dicked around, but most of the people i have dealt with, however if i were to go and spend this money on another, god forbid, lemon, would any other manufacturer treat me any different? i dont really think so..
so basically, at this stage, im going to take the 25 for my car, pay my lease out, and start again. 70k is the quote that he is giving me cause of what i need to get for mine. im taking tow and tint off the quote, cause i discovered not only thru your reply posts, but mates that its stupidly over priced. and can get it done elsewhere.
however due to me not being able to get my colour, im ponderous of a cert used car, still not in my colour, but obviously significantly cheaper.
im also thinking too that if i go used, how does dealer delivery work then?
and what exactly is covered in that cost?
thanks again guys, good work..

there is no dealer delivery on used cars...
contrary to popular belief. dealer delivery is a legitimate cost. of course there is an element of mark up on it. but you are dealing with a business. expect to pay some form of dealer delivery on a new car.
my advice on the tow bar... the reason the tow bars are expensive is because they are genuine, so therefore covered under warranty.... hence going through tests that those tow bars are not going to damage your vehicle. you dont get that kind of warranty with aftermarket bars... so if you have a problem with our transmission and you have an aftermarket tow bar. then it could be said that towing is the issue.... this may never happpen... but thats the same reason we pay insurance on our cars.
IMO genuine tow bars are worth the money. providing you are using it for towing.... so many people put them on their cars for rear bumper protection... so i guess then its not so much of an issue.
i would suggest getting the towbar fitted at your first service, avoiding stamp duty on it.
also. if you have an auto and want a tow bar, you are also up for an oil coler, which adds a further $200 to the bill... i would suggest they have combined this price on your quote. which also explains the high price!
