i have always been a bit dissapointed in the range of my central locking remote since i got my lib, i thought it was the battery in the key but i had it replaced and its still randomly appauling, one day i can unlock it from about 50m line of site others i have to be within 5m! now for the last few days in the morning the locking doesnt work at all, i walk out and press unlock nothin, then hold unlock Still nothin, then i use the key to get in, press the lock/unlock button in the drivers door up and down then the key will work again, anyone else have any issues like this and know how i can get it fixed?

i noticed on MY07GT it was pretty crappy range as well.. but when i am like at the drivers do it works.. so i have never got to the point were i need to use the key..

[1] Try rotating the key through ninety degrees as you push the button. It often owrks better one way than the other.

[2]Is there any chance there is a radio transmitter close to where you have the problem? I always have trouble in the carpark at the Broadmeadows KMART (corner of Sydney Road and Camp Road), so I'm sure there's something there.
The keys transmit a low power signal on 433 MHz.

I have had this issue, but it usually works by pointing the key in centre of windscreen really close to the lower edge of glass, its slightly delayed, so press it once and wait a few seconds

If you have to get that close, then your battery is really flat, or there is another transmitter interfering.
(It happened to me a few weeks ago, when I forgot I had left a transmitter powered up on that frequency in my office. That was only 10mW, and with no antenna connected, so it doesn't take much to drown out the key's transmission.)

My suggestion might not solve the unlocking problem at all but might help with operating range.

Put the key against your head (metal part touching your head) and lock or unlock it. I hope it works for you.

Check if the buttons are not sticky. Sometimes my locking button tips to one side and gets stuck then the other one won't work.

HAHAHA i just got the funniest image in my head of someone walking to there car with there key pressed against there head with 1 hand and trying to unlock with the other hehehe

lol hop on one foot and touch your free hand to your noes? lol jokes, thanks for all the opinions guys, the only intefering radio waves i could think of would be my wireless router at home? i no there are a few wireless networks around my area all fairly close, but i just dont no why when i manually hit the lock unlock door button it starts working again..

my central locking is shitting me to tears, it never works in the morning any more, the range on it is appauling, most times i need to be standing within a few meters of the car for it to do anything, i feel like its code hopping or something like it just doenst connect, i have had the battery replaced and alternated to my spare key but it just never works.

is it time to just get aftermarket alarm fitted or is there something i can do?

WHY do you need huge range to unlock for??
whats the point of having it open from 50M away? when your no where near the car.
Think of the range in reverse for safety/security, the shorter the range the less chance of accidentally opening the doors as you walk away with your back turned, yes i know it re-locks after a few seconds if no doors are opened, but still there may be an opportunist walking past your car at the same time...

well i see no point in keyless entry if you wait until your standing at your door to use it, might aswell just use the key to open the door.. and thats where im at, i literally stand at the door holding the button down on the key till the doors unlock, and 80% they never even unlock lol

Hi There,You are right about the low frequency but it might be worth re-programming the keyless entry to see if it makes a difference.We have tried this a few times at work and the success rate is good.Hope this helps.

Just the other week i parked my car in an underground carpark in melbourne central and the same thing happened to me.
- Walkin to the car, after a night out with the boys, my car was one of few in the entire carpark at that time i go to push the button, very embarassed i pushed it again. I tried putting it against my skin again & didnt work.
I resorted to using the KEY!
