I have MY05 Lib sedan and want to know if I can get the safety pack (curtain airbags & knee air bags) installed. If so, should I go to Subaru dealer ? Does anyone know if this could be done and how much it might cost.

I very much doubt anyone but a Subaru dealer could do it, if it is at all possible.
That depends a lot upon if the necessary wiring is already in the loom.
There's a chance these things have to be installed during manufacture, and retrofit would be prohibitively expensive.
Anyway, your first step is to ask a Subaru dealer.

thanks Ric, I thought it would be difficult. anyway, thats fine I just have to hope I never get in a situation that I need the airbags

...which means drive a bit more carefully. Cheers

Even if you could, it would likely be cheaper to upgrade the whole car.

My thoughts exactly, easiest way to have them fitted is go buy a new Lib that has them. While on the topic, do you think I could get the 2.5 turbo in my 3.0RB?

I talked to a scrap dealer lately after I saw a crashed 06 liberty and he said it would cost "about $10K for curtain airbag" and a few thousands of dollars for the front and side airbags. The car was a writeoff because of the airbags costs.
Are you sure there are no curtain airbags on the 05 Lib? It's supposed to have a 5 star safety rating by NCAP, isn't it?
