Like My07gt said. If its sold in australia retail. IE from a car yard, you have to have been driving in the car for a full year in that country and provide loads of receipts. Like petrol and repairs, new tryes and such to show you have done so. Then you can import it personally to aus.
If you if it in a different shape then that sold in Aus you might have some luck. as long as the car does not look I think its 80% like any other car brought into australia or sold in Australia you can import no worries. thats why nissan skylines, silvias, toyota supra, and mitsi Evo's are easier because there are no cars in Australia that look like them.
So unless you have had it in NZ and drove it for a year while living there. you are bum out of luck.
