Can anyone give me an idea on a good exhaust system for an automatic GT. I have heard that some systems have a tendancy to drone in an auto and I would like an increase in noise (not boy racer loud though!) without any droning.

I have heard the K2 exhaust on the site and it sounds really good but can anyone tell me whether they have something like this in an auto and if so is it worythwhile and where can I get this from?

Are you purely after a noise increase or are looking at some minor gains as well? Also do you prefer quad tips or cannons? I think K2's will set you back around the $2300~ mark.

Since most exhausts are catback, the auto and manual are same same in terms of fitment. It's only the sedan and wagon that differ due to the length. As long as you get an exhaust made for the Gen IV BL, you'll be fine.

Just a matter now of narrowing your decision between quad or cannon tip, and what sort of noise you're wanting. Most Japanese brands (or locally made HiTech's) made specifically for the Liberty will not produce a drone inside the cabin. It's more the universal fit exhausts.

Hmm, I've never been able to listen to my own exhaust from the outside. But according to MY07GT and Jason, the K2's lose the rex burble when at full throttle. It sounds like a rex at the lower range, but once opened up it has a sound unique to itself. Not sure how I can describe it. As I stated previously, the K2's were a bit soft for me until I installed the dump pipe, which will increase the noise level. Now it's perfect for me.

The HiTech's are definitely louder due to the smaller muffler cans. But if you're after the pure rex rumble, they would be more on target because the burble is more apparent. So for quality and appearance, the K2's are the winner. But for burble sound alone, it would have to be the HiTech's.

How does yours compare to the Fuji's

The Fujitsubo's are a different philosophy. IMO, they have more of a race track sound and feel. Still quiet inside the cabin, but quite ... noticeable from the outside. Like a track car! A very different sound to the K2's and HiTech's. I guess it just comes down to personal preference on which sound/appearance you're after.

As MY07GT advised, try to listen to the exhaust in person both inside and out if possible before making a decision. Especially if you're after a specific sound, look, or gain. The YouTube clips only show revving while idle, and is just a general sample of what it sounds like.

my idea is to do 3 fly-bys (and only come back twice ) as you really do have the sweetest looking lib i've ever seen!

I think it all comes down to personal preference as most of the guys here have already stated.

I didn't realise that the Fujitsubo's have a more race track sound and feel as Jim stated. Are you only stating that because of the way they sound and look?

I have recently tracked my car and I can assure you that they sound very different to when it is on the road. Mine was relatively quiet until the DP was put it.

At the end of the day, it comes down to what you want. From my experience, I love the Fuji's and wouldn't trade them for anything. Mine is also an auto wagon but on a 2.0T and I don't get any drone. If you are concerned about the drone then keep your stock exhaust...

Hmm, perhaps it's the DP that's generated the extra noise? But when I say track sound, I mean that it crackles when you give it a hit (from a bystander perspective). It's the kind of sound from F1 and other race cars.

Whereas the K2, HiTech, and HKS, which I've experienced, are low rumbles. But seeing that I've only had expose to the Fuji's from owners who have had DP's installed, perhaps it's different without the DP?
