Google it, there's a lot of stuff on various holden forums about carbys on holden 6's. It's a bit of a science. you have to balance what the engine can suck in against the CFM of the carb. Too small and you choke and too large not enough pressure. There are several calculators on the web that you feed the different parameters into and it works everything out for you.

Triple SUs for the traditionalists

Dashboard Cam for the poverty stricken

A mate of mine used to tune his triples with a stethoscope listening to airflow, then went all modern and used a vacuum gauge!

Generally with carbs get a high flowing type air filter and increase the jet size, get a fuel pressure regulator and clean the fuel filter, advance the timing (distributor). If the carb's done a lot of miles, get it rebuilt, a carb gets a bit cranky when it starts sucking air in from places other than the air inlet/venturi.
