What's that turbo!

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

I took the heatsheild and intercooler off today so I could get some good pics of the turbo - Matt thinks it's an ATP turbo, anyone have anything further?

this came to me without even the knowledge that it was replaced, so any info is good!

A small shitty one from the looks of it

Having read your very well informed posts - sounds like you know what you're doing and talking about - so in line with that thinking - ditch this p.o.s

Haha! Thanks mate - I am quickly skilling up on subaru/liberty stuff, I used to have a 180sx with all the bits and pieces, aftermarket ECU etc.

I think I'll start putting some pennies away for a nice big turbo replacement.

Kyp from ATP in Melbourne do the upgraded LGT Twinscrolls. Tuned around 8 of them

I was basing the info off the previous owners info but looking at that turbo, it still looks like stock VF38

You mean TD04-HLA - it's a manual.

TD04-HLA looks like this:

Most obviously, the outlet is flanged.

Quite right both of you, and looking at it again, that turbo you have does appear to have a bigger comp cover!

Yes, thats what I meant :) Turbos are basically the same physical exterior though. Anything marked on the turbo at all?

For reference in case anyone reads this later, the turbo is a rotated VF36.

I'm more curious about the headers used

Vf36 does not bolt up to the liberty twin scroll headers

Yeah they are factory headers, and you would also need the sump to suit. It also had the JDM intercooler. This would have been a very expensive excercise, and when Kirby bought it, it didn't even have a tune, and was making less power than it would with factory turbo+tune. The only conclusion I can come to is that the previous owner was either an idiot, or parted it out partially prior to selling it and flashed the stock rom back? It was traded in to a dealer, so we will probably never know.
