Tow bar without cutting bumper?

Postby Spiez » Wed May 21, 2014 11:40 am

Does anyone have or know of any tow bar kits that don't need the bumper cut?

For a 2008 liberty gt spec b

Got a quote from subaru for $1011 for a genuine one but that needs cutting

Cheers

Pretty sure they all need cutting otherwise it would hang down really low.

check out Towbars Australia - you may get lower capacity ones that goosneck under the bumper edge i think. The Genuine ones are 1800kg hitch receivers like the HR (prob made by them anyway, with the Subaru markup added on) like: http://www.haymanreese.com.au/parts/02010rw

http://www.towbarsaustralia.com.au/towb ... /liberty-1

The standard one is 1250kg/90kg <$400 delivered I think.

Ring them and check if its a cut job.

I also are looking for a towbar for my liberty...
My old man's Mazda CX5 has a Hayman-Rease towbar that is vertical and hidden behind the bumper when the
hook isn't attached - bloody brilliant design. Would imagine on the liberty, would still have to cut out the bumper,
but only underneath...

Yeah, you would think not. But 1800 kg on the spec.

Neat design.

I have a tow bar in the for sale section that goosenecks under the bumper and only requires a small amount of the bumper to be cut out. Its for a gen 4 wagon rated at 1250/80kg.

Let me know if you're interested

Well I finally had some time to fit my tow bar. Works good now after some modifications the holes didn't quite line up so not sure if it's the car or the tow bar but it does the job and ended up having to cut the bumper 25x80 mm at the bottom but not to bad I could return it to stock and you wouldn't really notice. Over all service from tow bars austalia was great about $400 delivered for the 1250kg pack and it suits my needs perfectly. Will post some pics soon.
