STi Docklands - Vtune

Postby drndrn » Mon May 05, 2008 10:19 am

Okay, I've been reading through a few threads on ozliberty and read something about some. Vtune thing.. Anyone want to shed some light on this?

Apparently STi Docklands offers this and is able to gain a few kw's through tuning the ECU. Although I'm unsure if it's the stock ECU or and aftermarket one they're tuning.. Prices that I've seen have been between $250 and $350.

So anyone know exactly what it is? :?

It's basically something similar to OpenECU/ECUTek - reflash of the stock ECU with custom parameters to gain some power. usually involves turning up the boost, and adjusting ignition and A/F.

I'm not sure how much there is to be gained from the NA - 2.0 or 2.5i? I'm guessing very little, as the stock tune should be pretty good.

Again, this is just my guess... NA is usually able to be tuned quite well from factory, as there are less variables compared to a turbocharged car.

I thought the V-tune was mainly for the H6's? I definitely know there a few H6's with the V-tune so double check.

mines a 2.5i. I'm also assuming this would not void the warranty as it's carried out by STi.

Ahh i see. Im pretty sure they can still tune yours with minimal gains but the real question is, Is it worth the gains per dollar?

Vin can tune "any" Subaru. The one a lot of people call V-Tune was his original work on the H6's... However, He CAN tune up your car. Sometimes this liberates power, sometimes makes it more driveable. Just call him up he is fairly good at talking and can answer questions including prices. An example is around 770 to tune a 2.0GT, I've had my old WRX done by him and he knows his stuff.

If you call him up he will be able to let you know what he can/cant likely do for you. 8)

Can anyone PM me his number?

And does anyone know what sort of gains he's got before? Esp with the NA engines?

I love my liberty, done 3000 on the odom now.. But its starting to feel quite weak, esp after sitting in WRX's and XR6T's. And the fact that a corolla outdid me on the dyno just depresses me! haha.

87.5awkw btw.

If you go to http://sti.subaru.com.au/quicklinks/find-a-retailer
And select "STI Performance Upgrades" in "Melbourne", it lists:
