So, many of you guys have done it... is there any performance increase/decrease?

Mixed reports about this...

None watsoever. More induction noise than anything.

x2 (noise only :D )

I did feel throttle response was slightly better.. but it's prob the combination of airguide, hks filter and resorectamy. Main reason I removed the resonator was put some piping from behind the foglight into the airbox. It's a 10 minute job on the Libs, so why not - the rexxies have it in the guard, which is more involved.

I did the resonatorectomy and HKS filter install a few months back, def seemed to improve throttle response and gives you some nice induction and bov sounds too.

I removed the resonator only and fitted a new OEM filter and I couldn't feel/hear any difference so I put it back.
I'm not sure whether the fly by wire throttle reacts differently to a fixed cable arrangement but I've only read about gains in noise rather than anything measurable atw.
I was looking at the Cobb Tuning CAI/Airbox arrangement but other than more noise over stock there doesn't seem to be any tangible benefits-looks trick though-IMHO.

Did you guys block off the resonator hole, or left it open?

left it open, for more air flow.

you wont notice the difference

I took the resonator off, and I can't hear any audible difference...

Hi Guys,

Took mine off the 3.0R and it does make a nice induction sound now above 3000 rpm. Other than that, not much difference.

I am tempted to do a before and after dyno run just for this mod for the 3.0R as I like the noise, but I think that there has developed a flat spot at the initial point of flattening the accelerator.

Kind Regards,

Mark.

Dont know about pre-MY07's but the MY07-08 with the resonator removed will give you a very noticable induction sound.

Phil.

i'm suprised that you didn't ask for a pre and post dyno graph...

:P

how someone briefly explain to me on how to remove the resonator for the BL5?
