Do you have a witness? If not, you're fecked because there's nothing to prove that he rolled back. Rear end, 95% of the time you are at fault.

also i think the guy is trying to f*&k me over, he told me the quote came back for the damage at $500.. my car had marks on it from the damage and they just buffed off... so how could his damage be $500 worth... its a rear bumper.. to spray the thing again would cost $200 max if it was needed!!!

Not sure if the police would do anything because they only get involved when there's an injury.

Force him to go through the insurance companys. Sometimes scammers will back off when things get official.

Otherwise you had best contact your insurance company, tell them the full details and that you plan to dispute the other party's claim that it was your fault. Ask if your g/f can be a witness, although I'm not sure if parties invovled can be their own witnesses.

Anyway, normally if it involves the insurance company having to pay out to another insurance company, they will fight for you. And just because you contacted them, doesn't mean you're at fault or have taken the blame. You are only filing your official report on the matter for your side. Let the other side do the same, and then the two insurance companies will fight it out.

Considering it costs about $150 to paint the grille or $80 to paint eye lids, $500 sounds near the mark. Because it also involves the labour of removing and re-installing the bumper, sanding it, etc.

Hmm, you didn't manage to take any pictures of his bumper did you? (this is why I always carry around a digital camera ... you never know) Even though it could just be buffed out, the guy's trying to get a repainted bumper out of you (well, technically your insurance company).

Because without pics, the guy could have gotten home, decided not to buff out the mark and get a repainted bumper instead, and just gave it a couple of wacks with a wrench to make it look worse than it is.

You can ring 131444 which is the Police Assistance Line. You can make a report of a P5 (Minor Collision) report through them.

As far as police actually making a report, it's not going to happen as it's only minor and not worth following up.

If you do make a report to PAL, there will be no tickets etc handed out and is for record purposes only.

Or you could just let insurance fight it out

Their is you answer if you were at a stand still he hit you I have never known anyone to be at fault if they were at a stand still
Just report it to your insurance company and tell him he's joking

Buddah

PS Just rang a friend

If the driver in front admits that he rolled back he has admitted fault

Nope, related parties can't be witnesses.

Technically related parties can be witness's, but mutually independant witness's are the best because they have no involvement whatsoever.

Your girlfriend technically is not related but she is currently, and always will be (even if you break up) classed as a defined domestic relationship with you
