Trip Computer is Talkig to Me!! :-O

Guys,
My trip computer in the dash (drivers cluster) is talking to me. The "A" trip meter reading that’s just above the odometer reading flashes "ILL.5" at me periodically. It flashes about three or four times before the engine is up to temp (3-5 minutes) and then less often, but periodically from then on.

I presume this is an ECU error code? Can anyone confirm what this is? Anyone had this exact code/ problem before?

If this is a standard error code, does anyone have the interpretations for the all the error codes in a Legacy/ Liberty. This model is an MY05 3.0R-B.

Incidentally, this problem only started since having the car into Subaru to fit a towbar this week. I wonder if there’s a relationship there?

I’ll be following up with Subaru, but would prefer to be armed with a bit of knowledge before doing so. The dealers seem to like to keep you in the dark… presumably to foster a dependency on them. That goes against my grain! :x

Hope someone can give me some pointers.

Cheers,
Deucer.

The ILL codes refer to your illumination settings which range from 1-6 (dimmest to brightest).

Your rotary switch that selects how bright you want your lights to be is probably stuck in between 2 settings, try adjusting it up or down. :)

Thanks guys! With the benefit (now) of hindsight.... I'm pleased to see that I've over-reacted and assumed the worst.... to no avail! :D

A mechanic might have bumped the setting the other day. I'll take a look and adjust it tonight.

Cool! ONe less problem to deal with before going away on holidays! :D

Cheers,
Deucer.
