It wasnt to bad, it was just a case of lining up the lip against the car properly and then we drilled some guide holes under near the front bar, then we drilled some 9.5 mm holes where we had done the guider wholes and then screwed it onto the bottom of the front bar.

Are the STI lips for the 07 models the same as the older models? been looking at the pics and they seem to look the same on the car, are the mountings the same as well?

Thanks :)

You had to drill holes for the STi lip? i thought the STi lips had mounting brackets attached and they would have lined up with the existing mount points on the car and was held on by the plastic fastners - like my Subaru lip:

Mo, the lip already has the holes in it, you have to drill holes in the bottom of your bumper. There are then about 10 rubber gromets with nuts set inside that slip into the bar, when you tighten them the rubber bulges holding the bar in place. That's what you have to drill the holes for. The Spec B lip also sits differently in the wheel arch than the GT one so there is a hole to drill there too.

There are a few tabs on the lip also, as per your pic.

I was given a GT lip first and they involve less drilling, an easier fit really, not that the Spec B one is very hard.

Thanks MIB, i didn't know that. In my limited experience with OEM add ons, i found that usually most things don't need holes to be drilled - eg: mudflaps, grills, front spoilers, etc. Was suprised to see that the STi lip for the Liberty needed holes drilled!

I didnt like the thought of drilling holes in my front bar either but it was pretty straight foward.

Lib 3rb & GT have different Sti lips due to having different front bumper bars.. The 3rb STi lip needs extra holes drilled where as the gt STi lip doesn't...

Hey Mo, I can understand the apprehension, fortunately the holes are where no one can see them, even when removed, it would take a keen eye to pick them.

Burgs, nice mod 8)
