To all that are interested....

With the price of fuel just sky rocketing and no doubt on its way to $1.70 by next year. I'd like to think that most of you out there are looking at ways to improve performance as well as fuel efficiency?

I travelled out to Mitchell from Forrest (ACT) about a month ago. My trip computer reading 11.8 L/100km which was normal for how I drive. I then had a Hyclone fitted to my '06 Liberty 2.0R AMT. As I got onto the Hwy I glanced at the trip computer and was shocked that it was reading 8.8 L/100km. But as the guy at the shop told me and the rate at which the ECU operates, it took the car about 4 days to sort itself out. I had it reading at about 10.2 - 11.0 L/100km (city driving) and that was pretty much with me drving like an ol' timer. It now reads at a measley 11.6 L/100km (city driving).

I have a feeling that once you get the car on the open roads cruising with a hyclone fitted the fuel efficiency would increase to about 7-8 L/100km. Since i've had it installed, I haven't ventured onto the hwy for big trip so I cant say much about the efficiency.

So if anyone is interested in fitting a Hyclone, Im unsure that $160 is worth a 0.2 L/100km increase in fuel efficiency. However, I still think though, as it is a difference, installing a second one could only help to see make a bigger difference but who knows?

If you have the money.....buy it, BUT install it yourself, I didnt realise how simple it was.

Just get an ECU tune done as I did and on highway driving to Brisbane and back I got around 7.2l/100km and my city driving went down a bit also.

Could you go into detail on how it works? Is it mechanical or some sort of electrical bypass of some sort?

Its supposed to spin the fuel into a super fine mist before going into the cylinder. This spinning allows the fuel to combust more efficiently. The image on this link shows a lot about how it works in the cylinders 1 millisecond after combustion.

Its a non-moving part that does not void your warranty. There's a law against it as other car manufacturers have used this idea in their own cars.
