Hi,

I've got a MY05 3.0R bspec and i've done about 35,000km. it's currently due for the 50,000km service based on time. last service was done about July last year, so thats 8 months ago. i hardly drive the car and when i bought it the car had really low km's too.

i was thinking that i can just do a basic service (e.g. change fluids etc) and hold of the 50.000km car service until i get a little bit closer?

what do u think?

i dunno about others, but i normally, just go by the time intervals, rather than the km intervals - my brother's car will be going in for the 12 month or 25000km service next week (had the car 1.5 years), but its done 9300kms - thats the same with my renault - done 10700km, but going in for the 40 000km (24month) service next month (have had the car for 2 yrs)

the cars gotta get serviced anyway, so i just pay a little bit more and get all the other crap done aswell - probably considered overkill, but hey, do what u think is best for the car

good question, either way i would service it, rather pay that little bit extra for the satisfaction to safely drive with no fuss.

I'd say it would be safe to stretch it out a little bit, maybe 40K km?

mate do a mini service on it....

to answer that, its both really.

during the week, i'll probably drive 2-3 times
and probably twice on the weekend. generally short distances, e.g. 10-20kms for each trip

i hope this isn't a dumb question, but what would a mini service involve? and how much should i expect to pay?

mini service usually is a oil and filter change, top up coolant etc....

pay no more then $200

The service interval is based on time as well as K's for a reason.. do the 50k dont be a stooge..

You'll get it back when you sell it with a FULL SERVICE HISTORY..

how will it be a full service history if hes doing it himself ??

haha.. nope.. I was advocating changing oil and filters yourself.. it's not hard..

Doing the 50k is not something you want to do yourself unless you have done that sort of thing before..

Keep a record of all the extra servicing you've done on the car yourself (oil & filter changes, coolant, diff & gear oils etc). If you're genuine, the next buyer will appreciate it and be prepared to pay a premium. If not, then they're not the buyer for you.

i think i'll book it in for a service. waiting another 5000 km to hit 40k km isn't much, so i might as well get it done now.
