last night a 3.0r b spec liberty wagon MY07 was stolen from balmain..

this car was barely 3 days old.

i have no more info than that..

just be careful... cos thats gotta suck....

yeah slightly.. hope if anything the owner gets it back, and the culprits are castrated!

Better hope they've got full replacement insurance, otherwise paying the dead interest would be a biatch.

A car like that would be stolen for parts.

Probably be found in a street in a few days stripped.

ive been told it was used in an armed robbery, unsure if it has been recovered at this stage.. police are dealing with it..

may sound like a dodgy question, but are they a hard car to steal??

gone are the old days, of a coathanger and hot wiring, but surely newer cars, especially ones up this end of the price and quality range, cant be an easy thing to knock off...

Having had one car stolen in the past and one broken into, and neither having quite been the "pride and joy" that a spec B would be, I can only imagine the frustration the owner must be feeling.

I have two questions from the posts above.

What is a brant?

What is quik trak?

These used to be fitted to all the STI's when after they were getting stolen heaps, which fixed most of the problem. For a few years and even now they are one of the hardest alarms to bypass. The guy who put mine in said even for him (and he installed it) it would take him about 30 minutes to take it.

Good sattelite tracking alarms, never used one, but have mates that had them. As Stungirl has one too. Good systems.

I'm not sure how good useful they'd be to me. I'm on the fringe of the Quik Trak coverage area. They don't seem to like advertising their prices either.

Someone that has brought a Quiktrak will be able to give you exact prices but from memory they are about $1800, then $300 or so every year after that for tracking.

The Brant Nemesis that I got was about $900, with the keypad, carjacking etc.

My mates have had brants in their cars before and it was giving them the shiyts. The remote wouldnt even disarm unless u put it near the bonnet. They replaced the battery and all. They went to the head office (dodgy looking town house with shiyt lying around everywhere, you wouldnt think its a business).... But thats 2 of my mates experience.

I think the alarms are an item to slow them down from stealing ur car and keeps break ins away.

Quick trak souns good, but in the end i think if my car was stolen, or jacked, I definately wouldnt want it back. I hope they write it off as it would feel violated... Plus i got comprehensive anyways, with full replacement.

with quik trak u generally have you car recovered in 3o mins....

i think thats better than having to fill out insurance forms and being inconvienienced of having nocar..

also if my car moves any degree they will call me, which is a massive security feature for my wheels.

i am able to get quik trak. if any one is interested

$1800 including the module, fitting and 1 year monitoring.

it is $399 a year for monitoring after that

Yeah I understand, but forme personally, I dont like the thought of what could happen to my car within 30 mins, crashes, scratches police chases with it......

Forms will still need to be filled regardless, and I have a hire car in my policy in which im sure you can get the wheels insured with aswell. I guess at the end of the day its more for those of us who does not want to loose your current car due to ur set up or wateva, but as for myself, I dont plan on too much mods and happy with a brand spanking new GT.
