Hey guys
Looking at getting a new my07 liberty gt. But im confused which model would be the best choice.
Basically i want a spec B with Satnav optioned in. But i notice that the spec b model doesnt have VDC, what is VDC and should i get the VDC model and just option that??

Thanks

Hey Soggster.

VDC is stability control. The Spec B has uprated differentials to get the power down. The standard GT hasn't, so they give you VDC instead.

The other things you get in a Spec B are 18" wheels, Bilstein shocks and different spoiler on the front.

As for Satnav - Mr Subaru is a ripoff merchant. 3 grand for satnav when they were able to give it away for free in the MY06 runout 2 months ago. Go figure!!! AND unless they've upgraded for MY07 you can't program the thing while you're moving. Not even with a passenger in the car. D'oh!!!

Unless you're gonna use satnav a lot, I'd get a PDA with Satnav on it - total cost 1 grand max and you can do other useful things with it too - then use the 2 grand leftover to buy your Spec B. Even better get the wagon - they're sexier, but I'm biased.

Thanks for the information.

Yeh i definatly want the subaru sat nav, i know its abit overpriced. but i like the look of how it fits etc.

Next question, What type of bargining/negotiation options do i have when buying this car? Will i be able to get a price cut or only options? I understand that as its a brand new realease they probably wont budge but just wondering

one way to possibly get a better price is to do the following

1) shop around and give the impression that your cheque book is in the back pocket. Play the dealers off against one another.

2) once you have the lowest price, contact a company called PRIVATE FLEET or other similar ones, they will take down the details of the car you want, then contact umpteen dealers and basically conduct a reverse auction. Once they have come up with the lowest price, they'll call you.

The only catch...you then need to move on the deal within 45min. That's ok if you are a serious buyer.

I purchased this way and got $1600 off the lowest price I negotiated myself.

I live in townsville and purchased my MY06 from Subaru Rushcutters bay

(Where Stuntgirl works) - No Crap - I saw the car advertised on their web page - made an offer - they agreed. I paid and drove off.

Too easy - no crap - Also saved around $6K to what our local subbie dealer quoted (+ they had no Turbo wagons, only STI dedan) Get the wagon - I also think it looks better + a lot more room for luggage etc.

I have the factory Sat Nav - it does look nice & I got it virtually thrown in -
If youre inclined to frig araound - check the phat's doubledin satnav, audio, dvd arrangement.
Not much dearer than the factory option but a whole lot sexier and you get to use the convenient shelf where the factory sat nav would go.

Now Cat what's the commission split again?? lol

All I can say is don't let the "Inchcape" dealers take down your details on the computer. They then all share them and you get no where on price.

I have no idea which ones in Sydney are Inchcape or not but in Melbourne all Subaru dealers are with them so you have to go out of the metro area. If you know what you want they are more than happy to sell the car over the phone to you.

As for the experience with buying the car (from Inchcape) I'd prefer the car cost a few thousand less than have the 'experience'. After you buy the car from them they don't give a shit. The others often give me the same car for free when I get it serviced.

Also don't let them tell you that you get free headlight protectors, floor mates and a free tank of petrol. All dealers with almost any car will do the same.

You have got to be kidding me......EXPERIENCE....

I'm not marrying the car dealer, I just want the best price!

I'd rather save a few bob than share the warm and fuzzy wit a car dealer.

Don't forget that it's not the list price of the car which will make the difference in your negotiations.

It's the "on roads" and it's dealer delivery and accessories where the dealers make their money so that's what u've gotta manage.

If there's that few GTs around, I'd say there's not going to be a lot of negotiating to be done.

Don't worry. The MY07's worth it.

Greg.
