I'm now minus a NAVMAN S50, and a driver's side window

Car was parked for 45 minutes in broad daylight in a busy shopping centre carpark, and we came back to see this...

If anyone tries to sell you a NAVMAN S50 S/N B5Y7AM18699 which always shows a small blue Microsoft Windows logo in the top left corner of the screen, call the police!

Ouch! Sorry to hear about that, man. They had this subject on one of those tabloid TV shows the other night, where thieves are now heavily targeting the portable satnav's. Even if you hide it in your glove box, they will look for the suction cup rings on the windshield. Because most people don't take it with them so 95% of the time it's in the glovebox or centre console. Bastards! Too bad you can't track your own GPS. Shopping centre wouldn't have some sort of CCTV camera monitoring the parking lot would they?

Hey, what's with that damage to the foam weather strip? Did they use something to try to pry open your window instead of just smashing it straight out?

bloody thieves

I'm guessing they tried to pry it open first, but it wouldn't break, or the tinting held it together, so they then smashed it inwards, because all the broken glass ended up inside the car.
I had to ring a neighbour to come get my wife, so she could go home and get a dustbuster to clean up the worst of the glass before I could drive it anywhere.

I had the shopping centre security guys there straight away, and was on the phone to 000 when a police car on routine patrol came cruising past.
The policewoman you can see reflected in my window in the first photo gave me those gloves to avoid cutting myself on the glass while I was cleaning up. They said there was no point fingerprinting, the crooks never touched anything, they didn't even open the door, just reached in and grabbed the GPS. They didn't even notice the laptop and camera on the back seat...

That sucks mate, and bad luck, although so common.

I NEVER leave my sat nav in my car, as I suction it near the rear vision mirror and they cant see the mark or the cord as it runs inside the pillar, an outsider wouldnt have a clue.

All you have to do is unsuction the nav and take it with you.

These thieves are generally kids that need a few bucks for some gear.

May I suggest after 28 days go and check the local hock shops, as in NSW after 28 days pawned goods go on sale/view to the public. May be worth a shot and I always reccomend it to customers and sometimes we get a hit.

Yes it does, but I never turned it on. :(
The Windows logo in the top corner is a dead giveaway to anyone who sees it turned on. There are only a handful of S50's worldwide that have that software installed.
