ok, so hands up if you've ever phoned shannons for a quote......

righto, whoever just raised their hands, who of you were a little taken aback with one of their first questions?
"so what exactly makes you an enthusiast?"
for those of you who haven't ever called them they are quite willing to say "I'm sorry, you are not enough of an enthusiast for us" if you don't come up with the right answers, as my brother in law who just bought an M3 found out  .
LMFAO at him!

still... he is driving an M3 though.

Enthusiasts are generally less likely to bin their cars or leave them where they will get pinched.

By keeping out the rif raf, premiums are kept lower.

Shannons are a specialist underwriters, not for everyone.

And that's the way we like it

So what are the right answers to be part of the Shannons group?

If you tell an insurer anything but the truth, you're an idiot.

I have 2 bikes 4 cars insured with Shannons and cant fault their service or price. Never had a problem with them when making a claim I was able to pick my own repairer and their is a clause that you can keep the wreck if it is a right off
This is very important if you have a lot mods as many mods are not covered by insurance . Would be worth bugger all if the car is burnt out

I use shannons, for 13 years, always have, always will.

When your paying in the vicinity of $800 a year for full comp on the GT, you can't really go wrong.

And that is just the usual $300 excess too, or thereabouts.

I got given a ridiculous quote by Shannons despite having 12 points and no claims over the last 5 years and I live in an average risk suburb. I don't have any silly modifications either.
It seems you either fit their mystical category or you don't. They seem to be more miss than hit. Oh well they don't have my money.

With AAMI.. was paying 1300.. they bumped it to 1750 this start of year..

I went quoting around with a few others.. including shannons. They all want 2500 minimum.. NRMA being the biggest rip off at 3600 :]

NRMA is always a ripoff for medded cars, but people like them for the security etc.

Shannons aren't expensive, I dont think $800 for a 40k policy is too bad.

Same could be said about ALL insurance companies, one I always found expensive were Just cars, but thats just me, not so for some of my friends.

There are so many different variables in quoting, because there is no such thing as "ballpark" figures when it comes to insurance.

If you've competed in motorsport or belonged to a real car club (internet forums and autosalon don't count), then Shannons will be kind to you.

If not, then stop whinging and just call someone else instead.
