Poor Show Subaru - Pirelli Rosso Tyres

I got a slice in the wall of my lovely stickly Pirellis on my 2007 Liberty Sti. When i took it to Subaru, they said there are none in the country. This was confirmed by Beaurepaires... Very Poor Show Subaru Australia. I think if you import a car into Australia, you have an obligation to organised for the OE tyres to also be imported to Australia. Any ideas folks?

swap the spare over, and get something else in the correct size...or wait 3 months and i will sell you my spare when i get some new tyres that grip better and aren't as over priced as the pirellis...

They don't have an obligation as such to have them always available in stock. Just like car parts. It's very common to need parts to be ordered in from Japan - same goes for tyres.

The Japs pioneered the "just in time" ordering system. Instead of keeping large stocks of spares all over the place they just use one central distribution store and only order spares as necessary.

Well I'd regard tyres more as "consumables" rather than spare parts!
I'd expect Subaru to have at least a small stock in Australia. :?
It's unreasonable to expect owners to replace all four tyres if one is damaged, and putting a different brand tyre in as the spare is just sweeping the problem under the carpet...

No, not really... Considering most spares are space savers anyway, I don't see how this is sweeping the problem under the carpet.

I mean, at least the tyres aren't discontinued...

One of the factors I considered when buying the Lib, was that it has a full size spare.
Turned out to be very useful when I destroyed a tyre in remote South Australia, and had to drive 1,000km back to Adelaide to get a replacement.
(Sure we could have waited two days in Port Lincoln, but that would have screwed up our holiday ;))

Subaru customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

They don't quite charge as much as BMW or Mercedes yet, but on top line models they are equivalent in price to VW and Lexus, both of which cover off these types of things rather than leaving an owner in the lurch as soon as the cash has been handed over.

I bought my 7th Subaru two months ago, I think it will be my last.

Totally agree about Subaru's customer service, but the same does apply to VW and Lexus from my experience.

It seems on that the second rung of car dealers (ie traditionally not the the premium marques like Merc and BMW) have a massive attitude problem towards there clients. They think that their s%#t doesn't stink and that is how they will attract those middle-upper class to purchase the products.

I'm sorry to those dealers but the reason why the likes of Merc, BMW, Jaguar, Rolls and the likes are the best is because they actually suck up there clients a*#es. I hate to put dealers like Rolls and Jag in there but the reality is that is why they have always been and are still very a very prestigious car (despite whethere there crap or not). At the end of the day they can then charge the premium prices becuase they look after their clients from wow to go.

I'll now sit back and watch you guys tear me to shreads! These are my experiences and I'm sure that others differ.

I think its up to the salesperson.

In the past 3 months I bought a 350Z and salespeople were very good and today bought a Tuned by Sti Liberty and docklands has a reputation but i found them fine to deal with.

The focus is getting a good deal on a car you want, the rest is bullshit anyway

I think we are looking at aftersales service just as much as when buying the car.

I'm always after a great deal but if you've got a couple of different cars you could possibly buy and the sales people that make the "experience" a good one, he/she is a lot closer to the sale than the one with just the best price in his hands.

That is a lot of the reason why people scrape enough money to buy a BM or Merc these days. They get the image but they get the "feel good" stuff that goes with it - the champagne in the cup holders when they deliver the car, the tickets to the tennis, golf, opera (if that's what rocks your boat), the special drive days for particular models - the list goes on.

What do we get? A CD wallet that doesn't fit CDs, a heap of attitude when we ring up to book the car in for a service, tyres on a car that aren't in stock anywhere in the country, and when I have a noise in my sunroof (second car in a row) the guy starts swearing and telling me he's not going to replace another roof liner so all he'll do is put a heap of lube on it. Subaru, if you want to charge premium for after sales you have to deliver the goods, and make us feel good at the same time.
