maybe he was waving his arms to the music in his car   ...........in those situations, i normally slow down more or when they try and overtake, i speed up a bit so they are boxed in behind the car in the next lane  ........otherwise i let the turbo unwind and they can get a good look at my fat ass

Right with you Ed.

If you're on the speed limit, screw whoever is behind you. If they want, they can go overtake or undertake or whatever - that's their problem.

If you're gonna throw the bottle of V, just make sure it's not the can and it's not the plastic one (if it comes in plastic) :]

Though.. it's infuriating to have someone throw anything at your car, had some shit box with red p plate years ago with a car full of knobs throw an empty plastic coke bottle at my car.. at least - that's what i hoped it was.. didn't see any damage but it was loud.. assholes.

+111111111111111111111111 to the new P laws to stop groups in cars late at night.

Take it easy Ed ;)

I always slow down to at least 10km below the limit once i'm being tailgated. Also if it's double lanes i like to try and box them in because tailgaters piss me off. Depends who's driving behind me though. 8)

EDIT: oh wait, exactly what brendan said hahaha.

admittedly ill sit a couple of kms over the limit, just to stay ahead of the flow of traffic..

again admittedly i will tailgate those who are in the right hand lane when they dont need to be. and i will make my point well known if they are in fact under the limit. bit pet peeve.

I have all the time in the world for those doing the speed limit.. obvisouly its a limit for a reason, and i will give you all the space and time you need, but the ones that make my blood boil are those that sit in the right hand lane, under the speed limit, making peak hour or heavy traffic just that little bit worse.

I can understand what your all saying, if someone tailgates me, or abuses me, i go out of my way to make life hard for them.. HOWEVER, becuase i am usualy the one sitting a few kms over, im usually overtaking, and in that situation, i will still overtake at my own "safe" leisure,( as in, indicate, check mirrors etc etc etc) and its the dick behind me, in the VN commodore, that is on my bumper high beaming, sitting one 130 and throwing me the bird, that will see my tail lights illuminate, and me sit happily next to the guy im in the process of overtaking, to infuriate him more..

Maybe that makes me hypocrytical, or maybe it dosent. But all in all my opinion.. and i learnt to drive in Sydney.. he he

Speaking of tailgaters, you know what really pisses me off.. People who do a really slow takeoff at the traffic lights which causes a domino effect since the next person has to be slow etc, and by the time it gets to you, the light goes red again! Your sitting like 10 cars back in traffic going wtf! the lights have been green now for ages and i haven't moved!

I agree that there is nothing wrong with driving at the speed limit but... Don't sit on the right lane if it's not neccassary.

That really pisses me off....I turn green and my clothes tear!!!

The other thing that pisses me off is people that don't use indicators

I always obey the speed limit.

I always obey traffic signals.

Indicate everytime I change lanes.

Keep to the left when not overtaking.

If only other ppl would do the same as me!

International drivers generally think of australian drivers as being shit and incourteous for a few reasons,
FIRST and FOREMOST is our almost maniacal obsession with being in the right lane no matter what our speed which then leads to their other pet hates which are people being forced to undertake and, of course, tailgating.
i'm reasonably sure the law is "if you are not overtaking, keep left".
Human nature rears it's often ugly head when driving with everybody thinking the same thing no matter what their speed, whether it be 5 over, spot on or 5 under the speed limit....... anyone going faster than me is a maniac and anyone going slower is an idiot because i'm going the RIGHT speed. I totally agree with your dislike of tailgating, especially when it's some crap econovan type of vehicle that you just know has under-inflated, bald tyres, but the one of the first things I'll be teaching my kids at the wheel is stay left. they will also be doing advanced driving courses before they are let out on their own.
*edit*please don't take this as a suggestion that the reason you are being tailgated is because you are in the right lane.
