car services - no thank you mr dealer

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

car services - no thank you mr dealer

I think I've absolutely made up my mind.

I'm never taking my car back to any dealership for a service.

I'm impressed and very happy with taking it to a performance tuner for service, great service, great knowledge and dedication to their work, they're honest and attractive pricing.

I went down to pulse racing today - NO! not for a tune.. not this time anyways... mentioned that a few of the boys had been happy down here and Trieu was extremely happy with the service and his tune. Paul seemed pretty happy to hear that as well.

Had my 12,500km service done, took an hour and a half, he tested the car out and it only set me back $200ish which is fantastic. As a comparison, a Holden Viva 15,000km service cost $350.. and that's an aussie car!

Paul listed down all the things he had done, changed my oil to 10w40 and when I asked him about it he said that with the summer coming along, 10w is a lot better since it won't thin out as much and put strain on the engine. Sure the 5w would give you a bit more power but I agree with him that i'd rather the engine be happy as this Spring/Summer looks like it's going to be really hot.

Adjusted my idle a bit higher because of the BOV, and later I told him about the sprintbooster which might explain why he stalled it a few times - but the car drives a lot better now.

Even reset my ECU and fitted in my ricer parkers.

I forgot to ask what oil he uses tho, but he's got a funky fuchs oil sticker on the car, and he also snuck on a few pulse racing stickers too on the back lol.. and my service manual haha.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the service.

I doubt you'd get any detail from a normal dealership.

My 2 cents.

Yeah totally agree with Viriix, the guy knows his stuff and when it comes to Subaru's he has alot of knowledge.

Paul Fisher - http://www.pulseracing.com.au/

I actually got a tune, but I know my next service will def. be at Pulse Racing and not a Subaru Dealership....

Made in Korea.... the only thing Aussie about it is the badge.

IMO Nothing worse than someone who puts stickers on your car without asking.

Yeah.. I know it's made in Korea and it's a rebadged daewoo, like the Barina and a few other cars they have.

But it's still got the Holden badge on it, so the perception that comes with it being cheap is still there.

We're talking about a Japanese built car (Subaru) that in theory, should be more expensive, not a cheap korean pos :]

I don't mind small stickers, everyone does it and the average yobo probably wouldn't notice :]

Haha i noticed the local service centre i go to shoves stickers on alot of the cars they service including my brothers bommadore, but they left my old rx and my gtb alone. I think deep down they knew i would just rip it out the second i got home. 8)

One of my mates had his car done by Midas once, they stuck a couple of stickers on the back window. He went right off, pretty funny stuff.

Not a big fan of people fitting stickers on my car without permission too.

Had it stuck on when i went for a wheel alignment and a tint on my old car. They came off the moment i drove off.

I rung up Paul last week. Advised about the tune. Not an option for the MY07 as they require a Haltech and costs abit more.

Sounded like a decent bloke and knew what he was doing..... but it wasnt the option i decided.

Got my extra power elsewhere.

Phil.

Got some power thru another source.

No tune for the time being. My car is running fine without a tune.
