I have a problem with the Macintosh system in my MY05 Lib GT.

Randomly (although more common early in the morning when the weather is cool - don't ask me why) the CD player will pause then restart where it stopped. The counter stops as well so it is as if a pause button has been pushed.

I have changed CDs in case it was a damaged disc (these are all real, not self-burned CDs). Even used brand new discs. I have had the car to Subaru a few times and they couldn't reproduce the problem, so last time they replaced the head unit. Still happenning, just not quite as often now.

Anyone else had this happen? If so, what caused it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as Bon Scott cutoff mid word is a very frustrating way to start your day.

i complained about my unit enough previously, but you are right mine does the same thing ,at first i thought it was burnt cd's but thats not the case. cold mornings attract frost to cds and that can cause this problem but you dont get that many cold mornings in sydney. it takes 5 to 10 minutes for mine to stop doing it in the morning and it doesnt do it in the afternoon. i have never had this problem with any other car and have lived here in the eastern suburbs all my life. not that we had cd's in the 60's but you know what i mean. try ejecting the disc and cleaning it,that worked sometimes but in the end i gave up and listen to the radio

PS just noticed townsville shit doesnt get cold up there so that should rule out the frost theory

Yeah i had this same problem with my MY05 GT aswell, only skips first thing on cold mornings but by the time you get to the dealer it would stop, probably warmed up or something.

Never could get the problem fixed......

we have just had the coldest winter and this is the first time it has happened in the nearly 3 years I've had the car. Definitely worse on coolish mornings (been getting down to 6 deg here).

Glad to see that I am not imagining this. I'll take a printout of this thread with me to the dealer next time I go in.

I have the same problem with my CD player as well. Frustrates the hell out of me.

Mine suffers from this problem too... thought it was dodgy Thailand CD's, but then discovered it also happens to original CDs.

This only happens during the first few minutes of the car starting up, and is definitely worse after a cold night. Was going to get it replaced under warranty, but there may not be much point by the sounds of things!

From the models it looks as though they are all Macs. Now I guess the question is does anyone have this problem with a unit out of a different year model or is it specific to the MY05?

Anyone with an MY06 or 07 have this issue?

Oops just noticed that Punchman is driving an 06 RB. Maybe 07 or 08?

From looking at these posts. It looks like 05 - 06.

I've had no problems any time of the day with the MY07. None that i've noticed anyways.

Interesting to know though.

my 06 but nov 05 technically so its not the new shape with the extra front speaker, maybe the unit changed slightly

I told Subaru about this on my last service and to my surprise they offered me a replacement unit under warrenty so its obviously a known issue.

it's a very common issue. I had mine replaced immediately with no hassle with a refurbed unit.

Old news and known problem of Mac head units for Subaru dealer for quite some time now.
Got mine replaced without much hassle last year.
