Well the day finally came. I picked up my Liberty at 4 pm today. (Of course after finalising paperwork and going through handover that meant getting to drive my new unfamiliar car for the very first time through peak hour traffic, but that's ok)

I know just from reading this forum just how many mods there are available for the Liberty, but I can't get over how well they drive stock standard. (I did take one for a test drive a few weeks ago, but a test drive is never quite the same.)

It's brilliant silver and absolutely stock standard at the moment, except for a towbar. Actually that surprises me. The towbar just has a cable which hangs out the boot. I've never seen that before. It has a wide plug with no actual trailer connection either. I think I'll need to go back to the dealer. I think it looks like the electrical connection was an afterthought.

The first 100km are the most imprtant for running your engine in.
The official advice I got from my Subaru service department was "drive it hard".
Keep the revs below 5000, but give it plenty of wide-open throttle, going up through the gears. Try not to cruise at constant revs for too long, and for the first 100km, don't use engine braking to slow down.

Oh. It looks like the same car I test drove in June. Hopefully it was driven hard when others test drove it because it actually had 115 km on the clock when I picked it up.

It seems to like to go ok though.

maybe next time I will fork out the greens for a sti .
