I have the HiTech rear mufflers on my GT and everything else with the exhaust is stock.

I would like to get a little more noise, as they are pretty quiet.

My question is has anyone removed the middle resonator in their exhaust or something similar? Just after the cat, the straight piece of pipe.

I would love to get a full exhaust but the $$ kill me.

It should stuff the computer up or anything should it, I'm just hoping it lets it noise up a bit?

UPDATE: I got the new addition. I had installed a 2.5" cat back pipework, hooked up to the rear HiTechs, and took out the middle resonator. Sounds nice now, not too loud when cruising, but give it and it sounds tough. Youtube vid below.

i got a apexi cat back on my car ... when it's idle,.. it's very quiet .. and when u give it it got bit of noise ... my system do have a resonator.

but my guess is ... if u take the resonator it will produce more noise .. how much ... i don't know ...

replace the dump pipe and you will get more suby rumble and much more torque/power. Messing with the rest of it is not worth while in my opinion.

Well it is worthwhile changing the exhaust because you can get more power. I do not have the 1k plus to get a dump pipe, plus full exhaust.

I was just looking for something cheapish for a little more noise.

I may end up saving up and getting something decent.

It sucks that the GT's are so refined and quiet

Did you go for the dual or single outlet Hitech's? I've been asking around for a dump pipe for my GT as well so maybe if we buy a couple we could get a discount
Anyone know where to get one? Tried MRT but you need to fit their entire system at over $2300 which is a bit rich I thought.

I got the dual, single outles Hitechs. I dont like the look of the twin tips, but thats just my opinion.

MRT is a ripoff all over.

take the resonator out and see. If its too loud then put in a aftermarket hotdog/resonator, will still be louder then what you have now.

I got the pipes done today from my cat to the HiTechs I already had on there.

Got 2.5inch. Not too loud which is good, but just makes it sound that little tougher.

GT sounds great. I was always dubious about how it would sound with the equal length headers and twin scroll but I have to say I like it. Good job Skooby

Yeah thats mine mate, I put a Ferrari engine in, just dont tell anyone.

When cruising you can hardly hear it, so I can blend in, but give it and it sounds nice, not too loud.

When I rev it you hear the zorst, pod sucking and ssq bov all in syncronisation, it sounds cool

Can you comment on performance gains, if any?
Now I probably should't be asking but is the noise within allowed limits? We do not want you to get a defect when you get pulled over now

Performance gains, not really sure as yet. But the rear pipes at least were double the size of the originals.

It probably would be borderline Db wise, but who really gives a shit. I ONLY ever defect shitbox ricers, if any, not nice new cars etc. I hate giving defects, but sometimes people just dont past the attitude test. I'm pretty easy to get along with too

But as I have stated driving you can hardly hear it....
