Spent some time re-reading bits of these and yep, that's mos of them. There's a master thread it all stemmed from (to do with dump pipes being sold) that seems to have gone altogether, but those threads give the 'spirit' of things.

Bp Ultimate or Shell V-power..

I refuse to use caltex since it gave my last car a huge flat spot when you go to accelerate.. i ran the tank near dry and put Bp ultimate in and fixed it straight away

I find I get about 50kms more on the tank then shell and the car goes just as hard on both, but also I do find Bp is more expensive then shell soo yeah probably works out the same.

Just came back from a trip to VIC in my05 3.0rb
I got 730km on a single tank, filled up full tank in Potts hill, BP ultimate, and stalled right in the drive way ramp of the United servo in Shepparton Vic. Was meant to fill up in Benella but the gps by passed it
Car was on cruise control at 115km and I think it was doing about 7 to 8.6ltr per 100km.
Vas very surprise, took a photo and called my brother who owns a 06 Diesel Hilux to rub it in heheh, i got the “ehh but my cars jacked up, big wheels, bulbar, dp chip” excuse

BP Ultimate (98) if in the city (Clarendon St BP)
Caltex 98 if around Dandenond South (Sth Gippy Hwy)

I have seen the fuel truck delivering to the BP and recently it is not the usual branded BP truck, so I am getting a bit sus. Looks like some independent fuel truck doing the delivery, not that it means it is not BP fuel, but does make one wonder the source.

I will specifically avoid Shell as I found my economy was about 50K less per tank over one year, consistently, compared to BP and Caltex. In the testing I did, I would run one month (4 x full tanks) on each of Shell, Caltex and BP and compare the total distance per tank. BP and Caltex were almost identical results.

im trying out different ones, im still only on my first tank (shell vpower 98) with this car, seems ok.
next ill try bp ultimate and then caltex vortex. see which one i like i guess.
bp seems to be the go though.

When I was working for Shell, BP was refinery sharing in Melbourne and vice versa in Sydney (Shell fill from BP).

Now, this may not be the case for special blend fuels such as the 98RON stuff which could have a simple variance in the mix line leading to the tanker fill point. But for basic 92/95/E10/Diesel, I can't imagine there's much in it and would just be filled from the same batches. I do know that the higher RON product is only made in certain refineries, due to much tighter tollerenceces required to produce the product.

I use V-POWER i seem to get the best out of my Liberty using it...I get good KM'S out of it and have never used anything else.

I just switch between shell and BP whenever, never noticed a difference as my driving is never consistent as the car is a weekender so I'm not too bothered about Economy. As long as there is no noticeable performance difference, that is all that matters to me. It's just money at the end of the day, and I'll go to whatever BP/Shell I am near at the time. I have tried the Caltex 98 a couple of times, seemed okay but I prefer V-power / BP Ultimate.

I guess I should mention that there are no Caltex / Mobil's that are close to me, which is another reason that I don't fill up there. Well actually there is one caltex but they only have Vortex 95 I think, not 98.
