Subaru Improvements?

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

- heated seats (would be nice to at least offer as an option for those that need)
- ignition delay/window rollup/down with key fob buttons (like accord euro)
EDIT/ADDITION:
- Mirrors with the convex edges (to see the blindspot) - it's so handy!!

All minor things though, I mean i wouldn't drive an euro over the suby any day :) My bro and dad both have one... fwd eek!

boot release is on the key mate just press the button, heated seats well I guess if you are in a cold climate then maybe but no chance in WA, and ignition delay well no big deal to me really but I guess some people might want this feature. Euro FWD sucks arse imo so no comparison between the two.

As Arith said, I did mean the handle/button on the outside.. i do realise it's on the key... but for all the reasons pointed out by the above posts, it's much easier to have a button/release on the bootlid itself.

We're comparing specs with the Accord Euro, which comes standard with all this stuff, not Euro as in european made cars - but even then, the Jetta 2.0 TFSI has most of these things for under 50k (if you option it up). Anyway, as I said I choose the suby for the all round driving experience, over and above what it's missing as standard/options, and I'm sure that goes for most of us!

In the MY04

- Heated Seats
- Hill Holder
- Mp3 capability
- Audio Controls on the steering wheel

The Forester had the heated seats and i loved them to pieces, yes even in QLD! As i work shift I'm often up at 4am

The hill holder was nice and convenient as well

wahts missing

Postby jp928 » Fri Jan 04, 2008 10:54 am

What I would REALLY like to see is windows, lights and roof work WITHOUT the ignition turned on! Why the f... cant these work on accessory position?? I have never found anybody who could explain the logic of the current set up to me. If its due to Septic Tank laws, why do we have to be saddled with this crap?

MY04.. the front seat cup holders.. THEY ARE FLAPS! I'd like some cup real holders and better quality materials and sound proofing.

A lot of good ideas here, I wish they'd design a bootlid that doesn't drip residual rainwater off the bottom edge(latch end)into the boot of the sedan when it's fully open.

No, I don't think I'll be buying a wagon to fix that. :)

Along with heated seats, I noticed some of the JDM versions have a little heater circuit on the bottom of the windscreen where the wiper blades sit, that would be very handy at the snow if you forget to lift your wipers off before you go for a day's skiing.

My 99model Lux pack forester had all of that, heated seats, mirrors, front heater bar on windscreen, proper cup holders. About the only thing it missed out on was climate control and audio on the steering wheel.

it is strange how progression sometimes removes things of the past that were pretty damn good.

In the MY04 I'd like to have seen mp3 as standard and not a tape deck included in the stereo - seriously who uses tapes these days??!!

Heated seats are not bad but I only used them a couple of times through winter and that was with minus 6 or so starts to the day.

Jap Option have some sort of distance detection. Has a front sensor and tells you how many metres ahead the car in front is. This is shown in the info display panel.

I think they call it SI Cruise, once the speed is set, it actually controls the speed of the car automatically based on the other cars surrounding the car.. not sure if it will make it here though :(

As minor as they are, and certainly wouldnt put me off buying another... here are my recommended improvement for Libs...
Based on MY07 GT Sedan
+1 for split rear fold seats!! (was there on the Gen1 RS Sedan..?)
    +1 front passenger elect seat
+1 update the radio controls on steering wheel so that up and down arrow go through the radio presets, not scan up and down the frequency!?
+1 Change the front side lights to LEDs like the Audi S5 (i know, ricey rice - looks sweets though :) )
+1 paddles attached to steering wheel, not column
+1 Better screen resolution on Sat Nav
    +1 Cheaper Subaru Accessories

Features I want!

Postby jACE » Sat Mar 22, 2008 10:36 am

There are a lot of features that are in the 05' VW Golf's that would óf been nice on the '06 models. Some quite impressive. They include;
- Auto Lights that come on when the outside light is dull.
- Manual Front light tilt
- Switch flicked polarised rear view mirror
- A/C in both the centre console and glovebox

It would also be good to program the central locking so when you lock the car the side mirrors swing inwards. Plus slow, automatic opening of the boot from key. And automatic passenger side powered mirrors = Hard click sends the winow all the way down.

Dual climate control would really save a relationship! :suicide:

I don't quite need seat position memory because it stays in the same position 99% of the time, as no body else drives my car.

I am sure there are plenty of items that can be included, but I would pick the dual climate control for now.

Keyless access to the boot would definitely be useful in the future. :good:

i asked subaru about putting in some Recaros (the STi ones) from factory.

can't be done without retesting the car for ANCAP.

honestly... a sportier version would be great...
