Bingles

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

yer well he was trying to put the blame on her after they had all pulled over. anyways... it's up to what the insurance companies decide. As the GF had to go to hosp later that night to get her shoulder checked out it meant going to the cops and reporting the incident (TAC paperwork, etc etc etc). So I included a copy of her statement with the claim paperwork when I sent it in.

and on that note, time to get ready and head out to the BBQ with a broken car :(

*update*

Dropped the car off monday 25th, got the call yesterday to pick it up. replaced front/back bumpers and straightened out some metalwork and that was it. Looks like the styrofoam behind the bumpers helped absorb a *lot* of the impact energy and save the metalwork. Gotta drop by the shop next week though as they missed the cracked RHS tail light during the main work. All looks good now, and they detailed the car as well :D

Still gonna give it another wash and polish though which I was gonna do before the bingle.

Oh... and scratch paint-outs aren't going to be cheap for the mica paint either.. anywhere from $200-400 to get a scratch taken out of the bonnet (most likely won't rub out of the top clearcoat as too deep). 'bout the same price anywhere else.

anyone else got any better quotes?

Good to hear you got the car back :), Back to the happy times of driving a Liberty. The tail light should take all of 5 minutes to pop out and get a new one slotted in :), Heck do it yourself just get the part number its hell easy to take off.

it should have been picked up by the repair dude... so the gf (the one that got it bingled in the first place) is taking it up on wed to get it changed.

I'll say this... it's great driving it again... I was driving an '89-odd ford laser - 1.6 or 1.8 non EFI 3spd auto with no a/c or radio, no power steering, manual windows/mirrors/etc.

makes me appreciate more what I have now :D

I dont understand why you are stessing abour costs and going and getting quotes etc...

First of all, if another vehicle colides with your rear end, it is always their fault unless you are reversing...

Second of all, the insurance company should be organising all the quotes etc, so why you doing this?

By the looks of things, his insurance company HAS fixed everything and has paid for everything that was caused in the accident. It is not their responsibility to fix a scratch if it was not caused by the accident. If this were the case, people would be getting their cars resprayed to remove minor scratches on the front end and sides when only the back bumper has had damage in an accident.

Thats the reason he is asking if anyone else has any quotes.

What are you talking about? He said "one quote down, another to go", which made it out like he was running around looking to get a quote, when his insurance company would normally do this? Also, when did i say his insurance company HASNT fixes everything?

some insurance companies only require 1 quote. Mine required 2. This reduced the chances of a bogus quote where extra work would be done at the insurers expense. I wouldn't have minded a single quote system as there are a couple of scratches and stone chips that I'd like taken care of.

Then the insurance assessor came and had a look at the vehicle to confirm that the repairers weren't pulling swifties.

Also, as the workshops couldn't tear down the car to further inspect the damage, they could only inspect the car and take photos and quote from there.

Would have been nice if everyone involved came to me, but I doubt in many cases that this would be the norm.

Will

ps... in other news the replacement front grille and rear taillight assembly have arrived at the repairers.
