maybe next year Phil, I still haven't finished someof the work i started on my car!!!

Not being used to the new GT, i wasn't able to tell the difference in the 3 modes, just drove it on the sport sharp mode most of the time - the way i see it , i'm either going to be in eco mode or sports sharp mode.

If all you want is straight line performance, go buy the Mazda or an XR6 Turbo or keep your 05 Liberty.

The 07 GT is slower to 100ks. We all knew that a while ago.

But go drive the Mazda back to back with a Spec B round some bends, or even better around some bends on a wet road and see what the dinky Mazda 4WD system does for you then. Lotsa performance through the front wheels isn't much fun.

To add to this have u felt the cheap plastic they use in a mazda?

Dont forget the resale value on those puppies.

If oyur talking stock to stock def agree the GT lacks straight line power. But I didnt but it for that otherwise I would got me a Evo or STi. Definately wouldnt consider a Mazda. Those things can be picked up brand new for the same price of a used MY05 GT. Go figure.

To each his own... I like the way the new GT drives, I like the way my old 98 wrx drove, I don't like the way the mps drives, i don't like the way the rx8 drives, i like the way the 350z dives but i want 4 doors...I'm sure i'll love the way a M5 drives but i don't enough money

You all make valid points, BUT anyone who says it performs well is seriously deluding themselves. I don't mean to offend anyone who has bought one as I know they are a great car, just don't expect it to be a high performance car. If you want that, then get an WRX STi, but then that is a little too hard edged for many here.

I only made the comparison to the MPS because it has great mumbo and it makes do with 2.3L. Engine wise it makes for a good comparison don't you think? And the biggest beef I have is that the car has gone backwards with the bigger donk !! WTF !!! It is a pitty considering what could have been.

I suggest that the 2.5 will respond very well to go faster mods.

they went with a 2.5 not for performance but to meet euro emissions. Plus the my07 runs on 95ron.

Most of us here drive the GT because thats what our liking was/is - most of us would/could have gone with an evo9/mps/wrx sti etc if that kind of performance was what we wanted.

I don't think i'm deluding myself in saying that the new GT performs well - withing a certain context. Just like saying a 911 turbo performs well and a suzuki swift GTi performs well too

ive been driving st and wrx for the last 5 years..... i still have the same pleasure.. just more refined.. and im loving it.... im lucky in the sense i still have an sti at my disposal... but i bought the gt lib for a purpose and it fits it nicely....

People buy a car because of what it offers as a package. If performance is what you want and it has to be a Subaru buy an STI.

However if you want a little luxury and a better all round package you would not buy the STI and EVO's. They offer performance and handling at the expense of eveything else. The MY07 for what it offers as a package represents very good value for money. It comes back to what one wants.

In regards to Mods if you want the power you are talking about buy a V8 or if you have enough money the Bugatti Veyron, it has very good performance.

I believe that with a little more power which can be achieved without even looking at Turbo changes that the MY07 provides a very nice package for a every day road car. Anything european of the same standard would be 120K+

Just my thoughts.

I am with you mate, while new GT is a nice (performance) car in it's own right it's just not acceptable to produce a new model with less performance than the old one especially if they plonk a bigger donk in it.

Buy you are fighting a losing battle if you think you will convince this biased liberty possesed lot that MPS is better

Subaru could have done better and made the car perform at least on par with the outgoing model.

You have to realise that while for us the GT with the twin scroll turbo is an out-going model, its still sold in that form and spec in many other markets. If this is what SA had to do to comply with the Euro stds, then thats what they had to do...

I'm willing to bet that an airfilter, exhaust and ecu mod will get more gains out of the 2.5 than the 2.0 GT with all other parts std.

I agree with Mo here in all parts.

I had a 180sx producing 190rwkw. Dropping to 130kw at the wheels. Power was definately not my influence to buy. Comfort, class, and responsiveness to mods was more wat i wanted.
